<br /> In oonneetio~ with the report of the Auditing Committee, Mr. Davis stated that there were
<br />sumdry bills due the Virginia ~y. & Power Co. fo= lights for thelmonths of November, December,
<br />JanuarY, and February, and as these l~ghts are paid for by contract andeS re correct as to charge,
<br />but had not been allowed by ~he Auditing Committee, because o~failure of a~proval of them by
<br />one member of the Lmght Committee, he would move Shat these bills be paid wmth the endorsement
<br />of the Auditor.
<br /> Mr. Markham stated that there w~re s~Judmy bills against othe= Departments which were due
<br />and correct and he desired to amend ~r. Davis' motion by including these bitl~ with ~the Light
<br />bills.
<br /> Mr. Davis stated that he did not thi~k the position of the ~wo classes of bills was the
<br />same and desired to have the two sets voted on separately.
<br /> However~ Mr. Markham urged his amendment~but it was lost by the following vote':

<br /> Report of the Auditor of followisg bills held~p by him, because of lack of funds for them: '

<br /> It is recommended that the bmlls be paxd, out of Sixth and Seventh Ward funds.

<br /> A request of the Treasurer to borrow $7,000.00 to meet School Expenses and $25,000.00 to
<br />meet Current Expenses for Marsh, t914.
<br /> It is recommended that the request be granted, and that the following resolutions be
<br />adopted therefor:
<br /> Resolved, That the Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized to make notes
<br />in The Bank ef Portsmouth, The Merchants' & Farmers' Bank, the Bank of Tidewater, and The First
<br />National Bank of Portsmouth, ~o amount ef Twentyrfive Thousand Dollars ($~5,000.00), to meet
<br />~rrent Expenses for March, 1914; said amount to be repaid from revenues of the City for the
<br />current year.
<br /> Resolved, That ~he Treasurer~be, and he is hereby, authorized to make notes
<br />in The Bank of Portsmouth, The Merchants' & Farmers' Bank, the Bank of Tidewater, and The First
<br />National Bank of Portsmouth, to amount of Seven Thousand D~-~lars ($?,000.00), to meet School Ex-
<br />penses for March, 1914; said amount to be repaid from revenues of the City for the current yea:.
