M., to consider: "First. The License Tax Bill for the year 1S14-15. <br /> "Second. The filling of vacancies on the Seventh Ward Local Improvement Board, caused by <br />resignation therefrom of W. H. Shackelford and C. W. DeGaribody. <br /> "Third. Report of the Joint Street Committee on street paving. <br /> "Immediately following the Joint Session, the Common Council~will meet in special ses- <br />sion to consider a request of the Treasurer to renew certain notes due in City banks, and also <br />such other matters as may have been adopted in said Joint Session requiring ~eeparate action <br />thereon by the Common Oouncil and Board of Aldermen. <br /> <br /> "Very truly, <br /> <br />eJDo.. Co~moh Oouncil--Board of Aldermen. <br /> Gentlemen:-- Your Joint Finance~ Committee have con- <br /> <br />sidered the "License TaxBiil for 191~-15" and think it desirable to make the following slight <br /> <br />changes o~ly as to tax on telegraph companies, and recommend that the bill be:adopted as so <br /> <br />changed~ That the tax on <br /> <br />telegraph, compaDiee be.$50~O0, instead of $100.00. <br /> (Signed} Jno. Langhorne, <br /> ~- Chairman B. of A. <br /> <br /> The report having been read, Mr. Markham objected to the manner of presenting the License <br />Tax Biit,.saying that it should have been presented some time since. <br /> The matter of reducing the tax on telegraph companies was discussed by Mr. Davis. He asked <br />why the tax on telegraph companies should be lowered. This was explained~by Mr. Hall. <br /> Then Mr. Davis stated that as, under a rule of Council, all proposed ordinances should lie <br />on the table for one month, he would.move a suspension of the rules in order to consider the <br />passage of the ordinance. ~The motion,was adopted. <br /> He ~ext moved~that.the License Tax Ordinance for 1913-14 be adopted without amendment for <br />191~-1~. The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> Second. The.'filling or.vacancies on the Seventh Ward Local Improveme~ Board, caused by <br />resignation therefrom of W. H. ~hackel2ord and C. W. DeGaribody. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pile nominated Mr. W. S. Leafy and H. F.
