R. C. P.
1914.

all 2S5 employees, which removals the President insists is necessary for the protection of the
business and the most efficient operation of the R~ilroad,
AND .~HEREAS, The S. A. L. R. R._through~its ~resident Mr~ Harahan, has promised and agreed
that he will net ma~e any further removals of forces or business from this City, and will intro-
duce certain improvements, and remedy certain 'nuisa~ces enttmera~ed and specified in correspon-~
dense hereto attached,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That we do not believe the best interest of the S. A. L. R. R. is
served in the removals of said offices, but rather that the retention of the entire forces of
the Road in this City, preserving it as distinctly our institution, with the old ti~e loyal sup-
port and co-operation which the people have ever accorded~them, would have enhanced materially
the possibilities of the Road and the City~ that while we hoid this view it is reasonable to
concede that the Management of the Road may be convinced that the contrary is true~ ~
RESOLVED FURTHER, Thatwe regret exceedingly ~the action which has been taken, having re-
lied confidently upon the very ~i~ndly.relatlons which have always existed to preserve us from
this hurtful poliey~ but with the hope that time with its changes and experiences will more th~n
restore our loss, we deem it wise to refrain from further agitation of the.subject so far as it
rela~es to the motion cf the Railroad in removing the offices referred to.

Respectfully submitted,
