J~ly ~I, 1914. <br /> <br /> The report of the Street Committee in regard to paving program, ordered to lie. on the table <br />April ES, 1914, was presented but was ordered to continue on the table. <br /> NEW BUSINESS. <br /> <br /> The Sixth Ward Board reported, in reply to a recommendation of the Street Committee, that <br />it had decided n~t to make any further repairs to defective boardwalks but to haV~them taken <br />up entirely; and on motion, said eom ~n~ioation was ordered to file. <br /> A statement was received from the Clerk of Cc~art showing receipt forms for fines in <br />e~esien and also receipt forms that have been delivered by him among the ~Justicee of the ~ity <br />since the let day of January, 1914~ to lSth day of June, <br /> On motion, said statement was referred to the Auditor. <br /> Nr. Pile moved to refer to the Water Committee and City Attorney to ascertain whether the <br />P. B. · B. Water Co. has the right, to charge water rent for an autom~obile, owned by a c~itizen, <br />especially where said owner pays $8.00 per annum to Water Company for wasn pave; also mo ascer- <br />tain whether said Company has the right to charge extra for private residences on account of two <br />families living in said house, the owner of samd premms~s having paid the required water rent <br />as schedule~ in contract between the City of Portsmouth and the Water Company. <br /> The motion was adopted. <br /> On mo~on of Mr. Markham, the advisability of changing street ca~ trackage on certain streets~ <br /> And on ~otions, the following other matters were referred <br /> Finance Committee-- <br /> A petition <br />of King's Daughters Hospital that the Oity give. it a note for SB, OOO. balance due on appropria- <br />tion made to the Ho~ital, -said note to be without interest and payable 6 months after date. <br /> A bill of C. ~.
