<br />NEW BUSINESS.
<br />
<br /> A petition ef M. Solomon and sundry other property owners on First street for safe and
<br />clean sidewalks in front of their property was referred to Street Committee.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Langhorne called attention to the fact that certain property on the west side of Third
<br />street in the _Fourth l~ard was in default to the City for taxes and, on motion, said matter was
<br />referred to the Public Property Committee for examination and report.
<br />
<br /> M~v. Narkham remarked that it was about time to adjourn 'out before ~oing so he desire~ to
<br />move that the th~uks of the body be extended to Mr. W. JOnes Williams, President, for the fair
<br />and impartial manner in which he had presided ever the deliberations of the Beard~ and se moved.
<br /> The motion was~dopted and then Mr. Williams expressed his appreciation fc~ the thanks
<br />
<br />extended him.

<br /> "Following, there will be a Joint Session of the two Stanches (the C~m~on Council concur-
<br />ring), to fill a vacancy on the School Board from the Fifth Wa3~d? caused by failure of.John F.
<br />Wilson, elected thereto, to qualify; a vacancy on the Seventh Ward~Improvement Board, caused by
<br />resignation of W. E. Whiteh~st therefrom.
<br /> And such other business as the body may deem proper to consider.

<br />temporary Chairman of same, anOiNt. C. N. Markham was made such Chairman.

<br /> The Chairman then asked for nomina%ions ~or President of the body for the incoming two years
<br />and Mr. L. H. Davis Was nominated for the position and elected, without Opposition, and by the
<br />following vote:
