<br />The minutes of the regular meeting October
<br />
<br />20th were read and were approved.
<br />
<br /> At this point, Mr. Markham raised the question as to whether the President should occupy
<br />a chair beside the Clerk, instead of the seat assigned him in 'the arrangement of the room.
<br /> The President replied that he took the seat beside the Clerk because, from the position as-
<br />signed the President, he could not hear distinctly and understand the members.
<br /> However, Mr. Markham pushed the question to a point of order, namely, that the President
<br />s~Ould keep the Chair-assigned to him.
<br /> Whereupon, the Pier,dent vacated the Chair and replied to the point of order.
<br /> ·hen, after some discussion, a vote was takem ~'the~question'w~th .the~'-following result:

<br /> Advisability of substituting for section SE of adopted rules the following: "A member of
<br />the Finar~ce Committee may serve on Auditing & Claims~ Rules, Ordinance~ Ferries & Public Docks,
<br />and all special committees; but can not serve on Street, Public Property & School$,~Fire, Alms-
<br />house, Cemete~, Light, Water & Sewerage, and Police ~$mmittees."
<br /> We report that we have considered this matter and deem it inadvisable to recommend
<br />the subs$~tutis~$f this resolution for sestion SS of adopted rules.

<br />by him on said street.
<br /> It is recommended that an appropriation of $E4. S5 be allowed to pay Mr. Preston's ex-
<br />penses.
