C, P, <br /> <br />103 <br /> <br />'Januax7 4, 1915. <br /> <br /> Almshouse Depa~tment-- <br /> With regard to this Department, Mr. Wilson asked for an explanation <br />of the proposed raise of salaries. <br /> Mr. Barlow made explanation for the Finance Committee. <br /> Mr. Wilson, however, was not satisfied with the ex~ianation and me'ed to amend, that the <br />salaries allowed to the Almshouse Department remain at $1,400. per annum. <br /> The amendment by Mr. Wilson was lost. <br /> A vote was then taken on the recommendation of the Finance Committee for this Department <br />and was lost by ~.he following vote: <br /> Ayes--Fiournoy, Barlow, Privett, Markham, Browne, 5. <br /> Nays'-Oa~r, Wilson, ~.. <br /> <br /> Mr. Flournoy asked for permizsion~to change his vote from ~¥e to nay, making the vote stand <br />for and 3 against. The request was granted. <br /> Hs then moved to reconsider the Vote Just taken. The motion was adopted. <br /> Mr. Browne moved to adopt the recommendations ~r Almshouse Department except as to salarie~ <br /> <br />and that the said recommendation be laid on the table. <br /> The motion was adopted and by the following vote: <br /> <br />Cemetery Department-- <br /> Adopted unanimously~ <br /> <br />Ayes--Flou~n'oy, Barlow, Cart, <br /> Privett, Markham, Wilson, <br /> Browne, ?. <br /> <br />Light Department-- <br /> Adoptedunanimuusly. <br /> <br />Water & Sewerage Department-- <br /> Adoptedunanimously. <br />Police Department-- <br /> Adopted unanimously. <br /> <br />Health Department-- <br /> Adopted unanimously. <br /> <br /> Court Expenses-- <br /> Mr. Wilson moved to amend, that the proposed increase of salary of $$00. <br />for the Commonwealth Attorney be struck out. <br /> Mr. Browne moved to amend to adopt -the recommendations, except as to the said salary, and <br />that the ~ecommendation l~e on the table. <br /> The amendment by Mr. Browne was adopted. <br /> <br /> Officers Not Attached to a Department-- <br /> · Mr, Cart moved to amend the recommendations of the <br />Committee as follows: City ~lerk shall recemve $18E0. per annum, and the City Collector <br />per annum and the Deputy Cit~ Collector $1,O00..Per an~.um~ as formerly. , <br /> Whereupon, it was explained to Mr. Car~ that the $~00. added on to the SE~O0. salary ~or <br />the City Collector was intended to cover his commission on collections, as provided for by ordi- <br />nance, but Mr. Ca~r ~e=sisted in his motion and the $~me was lost. <br /> Mr. B~owne moved to amend that the recommendation be adopted, except as to salary of the <br />City Clerk and that it lie on the table. The amendment was lost. <br /> He then, by permission, changed his vote to no, making the vote stand B ayes and B nays. <br /> WhereuRon, he moved to reconsmder the vote jus~ taken. Adopted. <br /> Then he moved again~.tg~adopt the recommendations of the Committee, except as to salary of <br />the City Clerk and that said recommendation lie on the table. The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> Sixth Ward-- <br /> Adopted unanimously. <br /> <br />Seventh Ward-- <br /> Adopted unanimously. <br /> <br /> Total Anticipated Appropriations-- <br /> Mr. Browne moved to appropriate $4~0. for a stenographe~ <br />for the City Collector. <br /> Mr. Cart moved to amend, that $~t0. be allowed for said stenographer. <br /> The amendment by Mr. Cart was lost and the amendment by Mr. Browne was lost also. <br /> Mr. Brow~e then obtained permission to change his vote from aye ~o nay, making the vote <br />stand B for and ~ against. <br /> He next moved to lay on the tab2~ the question of a stenographe~ for the City Collector <br />and to adopt the recommendations for total appropriations as so amended. <br /> The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> Finally, on motion of Mr. Browne~ the Budget, as amended, was adopted and by the following <br />vote: <br /> Ayes--Flottrn~y, Barlow, Cart, Privett, Markham, Wilson, Browne, ?. <br /> <br /> Note: The Budget was adopted as presented, except as to increase of salaries for the Phy- <br />sician to the Poor and the City Olerk; such recommendations with amendments to increase the <br />salary of the Commonwealth Attorney and to allow the City Collector a stenographer, were order- <br />ed to lis on the table. <br /> <br /> Second.
