April gO, 1915. To make available $E~5. allowed in the Budget for "Repairs to Union Fire House," roofing and plastering the same. Finance Committee authorized'to expend $500. or as much of same as necessary, for having audited the accounts of the late Oity Auditor and of other City Officers. To authorize the Treasurer to borrow $~O,OOO. tc meet Current Expenses and $10,000. to meet~School Expenses, for March, 1915. To'make available the following amount to Fire Department, allowed in the Budget for 1915, Rebuilding Lines, $1~5.00. Employment of a competent man at a salary of $60. per month for a period not to exceed 30 days, total amount of salary, material, &c., not to exceed $i~0.00, to repair Wires of the tele- phone and telegraph system. Awards made to the Eureka Fire Hose Nfg. Co. for ~00 feet of "Red Cross" Brand ~ose, at $1.~0 per-foot; and the Fabric Fire Hose Co. for 1,000 feet of "Chesapeake" Double Brand Hose, at $1.00 per foot. Sihking Fund Commissioners to lend the City the amount in the Sinking Fund as represented by the City's note held by the said B~ard January let, 1Si4, with accord interest thereon. To allow Police bills and requisltions to amount of $i19.15, subject to approval by the Board of Aldermen Chairman. Treasurer authorized to renew notes to amount of $~0,000, falling due in April, 1915.. Referred to Public P~operty Committee, with power to act, a request of Circle No. 5, Nonu- mental M. E. Church, to use the Court House yard on the afternoon of April 5th, for an egg hunt~. To grant the Sixth Nard Board authority to lay a ~arger pipe across Sixth avenue in order to carry off the water. Fourth. Reports of Officers and other unfinished business. The regula~ reports of Officers for the month of March, 1915, were presented and were or'- doted to take the usual course. The following opinion was read from the City Attorney as to rights Of the S. A. L. Ry. Ce. at the southeast intersection of Water and Comnty streets; and the same was ordered to file: (See records of Common Council April 19, 1S15, page ~i). The License Tax'Ordinance for 1915-16, adopted by the Common Council April 19th and refer- red to the Board of Aldermen for concurrence, was taken up b~ said body, .considered, and ordered to lie on the table. NEW BUSINESS. A letter was received from the family of the late Thomas H~me,-City Auditor, extending tc Council their appreciation of sympathy, floral design, &c., in c~nnection with his death. On motion, the letter was ordered to file. A petition was ~eceived from the Friends Church to be allowed to use the playground on · ythe street to hold ~evival meetings for two weeks from May l~th. On motion, the action of the Common Council in referring said petition to the Park Commission was concurred in. A bill of Jas. A. Mulvey to amoun~ of $100, for services in relation to re-assessment of railway real estate, was referred to Finance Co,mi%tee. A petition was read from M~vs. Nm. H. Stewart, ~77~i$ North street, that the City fill up the drain now running through her ~ar~; and said petition was referred to ~t=eet Committee. Mr. Ba~low moved to refer to Finance Committee to make available one-half of amount allowed in the Budget for ,O~phan Asyium.~ The motion was adopted. N~. Frey called attention to lack of facilities for washing at the Union Fire Engine House and to condition of horse stalls in said Engine House. On motion~ lack of facilities for washing was referred to Pubiic Property & Schools Committee, and condition of horse stalls, to Fire 0emmittee. Mr. Flournoy moved to refer to Ferry & Public Docks Committee the advisability of lookimg into increased facilities for ferry purposes, and in this connecti~ to request the Boa~d of Supervisors of Norfolk County to meet said Committee relative to the matte=. The motion was adopted. On motion of Mm. Cart, the advisability of an ordinance tc prohibit the haullno of uncover- ed meats through, the streets, was referred to Ordinance Committee. On motion, the attention of the Public ~ope~ty & Schools Committee was called to condition ~f door~ at the Park View Engine Nouse. On motion, adjourned.
