<br /> We report that the City Attorney is ~f the opinion that such taxes would be illegal
<br />and it is, therefore, recommended, that said taxes be eliminated.
<br />
<br /> Section 145. "That the tax on Real Estate and Tangible Personal Property for the First,
<br />SecOnd, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Wards. of the City shall be $t.50 on the hundred dollars of as-
<br />sessed values thereof for General Purposes, and $.50 on the hundred dollars for Public Schools;
<br />and that the tax on Intangible Personal Property shall be $.~O~on the hundred dollars.

<br /> "'(With City Attorney) That the tax on Real Estate and Tangible Personal Property for the
<br />Sixth and Seventh Wards shall be $1.41 on the hundred dollars of the assessed values thereof;
<br />and that the tax on Intangible Personal Property shall be $.~0 on the hundred dollars."
<br />
<br /> ' It is recommended ~hat the tax on Real Estate, Tangible Personal Property and Intan-
<br />giblePersonal Property~mmin as heretofore recommended, that is as stated above.
<br />
<br /> "It is further recommended that any person~faiiing to pay the taxes on Real and Per-
<br />sonal Property, imposed by this ordinance, on or before~the ~lst day of October shall incur a
<br />penalty of two per cent on the amount.of ~aid taxes, which shall be added to said taxes by the
<br />City Collector; and a further penalty of three per cent. should maid taxes be not paid by Decem-
<br />ber ~Ist, which shall likewise be added by the City-Col!co,or."
