R, C, P, <br /> <br />Jnne I?, 19i5. <br /> <br /> ' Board <br /> Mr. Wilson moved to recommit to Finance Committee the matter of supplying the Plumbing <br />with tools, books, &c., but the motion was lost. v , , <br /> <br /> At this point, a communication was re~d from Mr. S. N. Brandt, attorney for B. F. Farmer, <br /> agreeing to comprgmise the s~it of M~. Farmer against.the City for damages to his property on <br /> Pearl street for $~75. plTM costs, making a total of $386.88. <br /> On motion, it was agreed to accept the compromise and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes-~Markham, Barlow, Cart, Adams, Privett, Wilson, Browne, Frey, 8. <br /> <br /> NEW BUSiNESS. <br /> <br /> A petition was read from the Board of Police Commissioners for the creation by ordinance <br /> of an "auxiliary" police force of twenty-three men, consisting of the twenty-three men now call- <br /> ed by the Department as "substitutes." <br /> On motion, the petition was refer~ed to the Ordinance Committee. <br /> <br /> A petition of Mrs. Sallie E. Foster to be paid $~?. for thirty-seven "Rhode Island Red" <br /> chickens lost during recent storm was referred to the Auditing & Claims Committee. <br /> <br /> A communication was read from the City Attorney and Attorney for the Board of Water Com- <br />~missioners advising~that the case of the Eastern Dredging Company vs. the City of P~rtsmouth <br />be compromised for $8,000.00, without interest and payment of one-half of costs in the suit, <br />provided payment of same is made during the month of July. <br /> After some discussion of the matter, the communicat~ion was referred to the Finance <br /> Committee. <br /> <br /> ~r. Browne moved to refer to Ordinance Committee the advisability of an ordinance to regu- <br /> late traffic at the Ferries. The motion ~as adopted. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Cart, the attention of the Street Committee was called to condition of the <br /> gasoline tampzng engine owned by the City. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. ~ilson, the advisability of a private telephone for the Chief Engineer of <br />the Sewer Power Ho~ee was referred-to the Joint Water & Sewerage Committee. <br /> <br /> Hr. Cart moved that the attention of the Public Property Committee be called to the con- <br />dition of the'City Jail and Independent Engine House,and the attention of the Public Property <br />and Finance committees be called tq heating of the City Jail. <br /> The motion was adopted. <br /> <br />On motion, <br /> <br />adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
