FI, C, p, <br /> <br />August 17, 1~ 15. <br /> <br /> A petition of the Sixth Ward Board to be allowed to use $60. of its "Contingent. fund for <br />catching dogs. <br /> It is recommended.that said amount be allowed for the purpose named, out of Sixth W~rd <br />"Contingent" fund. <br /> <br /> A petition of the Sixth Ward Board for an appropriation of $1,540. instead of $1,000.00 to <br />repair County street. <br /> It is recommended that an additional appropriation of $5A0. be allowed for ~his work, <br />out of Sixth Ward.Bond Account. <br /> <br /> (With Power to Act as to an Appropriation) Order of COurt extending time of Assessors of <br />Real Estate to.October 1st, 1915. ' ' <br /> In accordance with instructions, we have made an appropriation of $4?4. to cover said <br />extension of time, and have so reported to the Auditor. <br /> <br /> A petition of the Commissioner of the Revenue for an extension of time in which 4o deliver <br />the land and personal property books to the City Auditor. <br /> It is recommended that the Commissioner of the Revenue be allowed until September 1st <br />to deliver the land and personal property books to the City Auditor, if the work can not be com- <br />pleted sooner. <br /> <br /> (With POlice Committee) A request of the Board of Police Commissioners ~orbe furnished <br />with two additional .patrolmen and a motorcycle for the Police Department. Progress. <br /> <br /> A bili of'the Board of Harbor Commissioners to amount of $375.00, to meet its expenses for <br />fourth quarter, year ending June 30, 1915. <br /> It is recommended that said bill be paid. <br /> <br /> Orders of Oourt:' <br /> (a) That Trustees of Gomley Chesed Syhagogue be exonerated from payment <br />of $47.60 City Taxes. ' <br /> (~) That Arthur Emmerson be exonerated from payment of $5.10 City taxes on an automobile. <br /> ~.(c) ~=iking from the records a lot of land and building thereon standing in the name of <br />the rruetees of Gomley Ohesed Synagogue, S83 W. Washington street, and also striking off taxes <br />thereon £or the year 191S. <br /> It is recommended that said Orders of Court be complied with. <br /> <br /> A report of the City Attorney and Associate Counsel that $10,1~.91 has been turned over <br />to the City Collector by the Va. Ry. & Power 0o., amount recovered in suit of the City against <br />the said Company. <br /> <br /> We report that <br />City Collector, <br /> <br /> A bill of Frank L. <br />the Va. Ry. & Power Co. <br /> It <br />paid by them. <br /> <br /> said amount has been turned over to the Sixthand Seventh Wa~ds by the <br /> <br /> Crocker to amount of $300.00, for services in the suit of the City vs. <br />is recommended that said bill be prorated between the Sixth and Seventh Wards and <br /> <br /> Bills of B. E. Long to amount of $I5.00, one-half of fines as informer in cases of G. W. <br />Jackson and B. J. Farmer vs. the City. Progress. <br /> <br /> A petition of the Seventh Ward Board for a special appropriation of $150. ~or purpose of <br />catching dogs. <br /> It is recommended that an. appropriation of $t00. be allowed for said purpose, out of <br />Seventh Ward funds. <br /> <br /> A petition of the Seventh Ward Board that $400. he t~anSferred from excess of taxes to <br />"Street" appropriation and $800. be transferred to "Board of Health." <br /> It is recommended that an appropriation of $800. be allowed for ~eventh Ward "Street" <br />wor~ out of its funds. <br /> <br /> A request of the City_Treasurer to borrow $80,000. for Ourrent Expenses-f~or August, 1915. <br /> It is recommended that said request be granted and that the following resolution be <br />adopted therefor: <br /> Resolved, That the Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized to make notes <br />in The Merchants & Farmers Bank, The Bank of Portsmouth, the Bane of'Tidewater, an~The First <br />National Bank of Portsmouth to amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($80,000.00), to meet Ourrent <br />Expenses $£~he City for Augus~, 1915; said amount to be repaid from revenues of the City for <br />the current year. <br /> <br /> Advisability of securing a copy of the Insurance Nap now being prepared~ <br /> It is reported that an appropriation for said map will be considered for the B~dget <br />for 1916. <br /> <br /> Advisability of limiting the number of places where the business of a pawnbroker may be <br />conducted to three and refusing a license to any person to conduct such place who is not a qua- <br />lified Voter of the City of Portsmouth. <br /> We report that this matte= will be considered for the License Tax Bill of 19t6-17. <br /> <br />An additional appropriation of rEO0. for "Horses.~ <br /> <br />Progress. <br /> <br /> (With Police Committee) Advisability of purchasing a Ford automobile for the Police De- <br />partment.
