R, C, P, 9eoember 2l, 1915. Emtimate of the School Board of expenditures of the Public Schools for the year 1916. Ne report that this estimate ~s been considered in the Budget for 1916. A petition of the International Vending Co. to be refunded $4.00 paid as license tax on slot machines, said licenses having been cancelled. It is re.commended that the proportionate part of the tax be refunded for the balance df the year. Authorized to advertise for proposals for furnishing funds as required by the City for the year 1916, and for receiving the funds as cqllected by the City and holding the cash balances on hand. We report that it is not necessary to make any reoommend4tion in regard t~ this mat- ter, as it was not concurred in by the Board of Aldermen. To .make available $65. to finish paying for a'horse in the Fire Department. It is recommended that a special appropriation to said amount be allowed. We report that the condition of salaries at this time. A petition of the Commonwealth Attorney for an increase of pay from $900. to $1,~00. per the City finances does not admit of any increases in An appropriation of $5~. to screen the Incinerator. Advisability of establishing a depot for the issue of gratis prescriptions, th~ dispenser of same to act as food inspector. It is recommended that this matter be referred to the Almshouse Committee and that it be requested to bring in a report regarding the same as early as possible. Advisability of having the City books audited. We report that an audit of the City books has been made during the current year. An appropriation of $45. to purchase a stove and basin for the Plumbing Insp~ector's office. It is recommended that this appropriation be referred to the Public Pr~erty CQmmittee. An appropriation of $150. for the Incinerator for the balance of the year. It is recommended that a special app.oprmatmon to said amount be allowed. Referred by Common Council October l~th. Advisability of appropriating $100. to the Portsmouth Public Library Association to help meet its expenses-~or the months of November and December, 1915.
