<br /> The Clerk sta~ed that it was not c'iear to him what the body meant at its previous meeting
<br />by the vote on the PoliCe Budget; thzt is to say, whether the body meant to adopt with amend-
<br />ment by Mr. Markham or no~. The body was of opinion that the matter was adopted with the a-
<br />mendment by Mr. Markhs_m.
<br /> Mr. Markham, after stating his ppSition with regard to the Police Budget, said that, while
<br />he agreed to the position taken by the other members, he thought the matter should be transacted
<br />in a more regular form, and for that puroose, he would move a suspension of the rules The motion was adopted.
<br /> He then moved the adoption of the Police Budget, except the two amendme~nts adopted by the
<br />Board, viz.~ the amendments for purchase of a motorcycle and for a traffic officer.
<br /> The motion was adopted and by the following vote:

<br /> Mr. Markham moved to purchase a motorcycle for $250. and to employ a traffic policeman at

<br /> A communication was read from the Chambers Fire Company thanking Council for permission
<br />granted it to.hold a carnival on the playground.
<br /> On motion, the communication was ordered to file.

<br /> A bill of B. F. Long to amount of $i0.00, for balance due for catching dogs in the Seventh
<br />Ward, was~ referred to~the Finance Committee.

<br /> A petition of M. Katz for correction of assessment on his property at the corner of ~ifth
<br />and Harrison streets was referred to the Finance Committee.

<br /> A bill was presented from the Board of Harbor Commissioners for $?~0.00, covering the ist
<br />and ~nd quarters due on assessment of $!~ 500. for the fiscal year ending June ~O, 1916.
<br /> On motion, said bill was referred to the Finance Committee.

<br /> A petition of the Sixth Ward Board that an additionailp$!ice "call box" be placed on Sixth
<br />avenue, between Glasgow and High streets, was referred to the Police Committee.

<br /> A petition of H. L. Alexander and sundz7 others for an extension of the High street "White
<br />Way" to Cooke street was referred to the Light Committee.

<br /> Mr. Markham moved to refer to Ordinance

<br /> Mr. Cart moved that the Municipal Buzldmno and the City's half of the Court House be draped

<br /> On motion of Mr. Browne, the a~vmsabml~_ty of pu~chasmng the Guthrie property adjoining the
<br />Oak Grove Cemetery was referred to the Cemetery Committee.

<br /> Mr. Browne gave notice that at a regular meeting or at any special meeting of the Board
<br />he will ask for a reconsideration of the Police Budget.

<br /> Mr. Markham moved that the City Engineer be instructed to have put on the playground any
<br />dirt that may be taken from the streets to be paved. The motion was adopted.
