<br /> Petitions of The Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone. Co.. for permission to erect certain poles,
<br />as shown on attached copy of drawing; to erect, remov~ and replace poles on oe~ain streets,
<br />and to construct t~5 feet of ~way creosote wood conduit on Glasgow street, west of Herren; and
<br />to erect and'replace poles on certain streets, ae shown on attached copy of drawing.
<br /> It is recommended that said petitions be granted, under the usual conditions.
<br />
<br />Advisability of screening the Incinerator.
<br /> It is recommended that the Incinerator be screened at a cost of $50.00.
<br />

<br /> A communication from the Board of Health, enclosing a communication from Mr. Wm. H. Peters,
<br />concerning the Collection and hauling of garbage in the City, in which communication the Board
<br />asked the Council to look into the advisability of having the carts covered, and disinfected at
<br />intervals. Progress as to same.
<br />
<br /> A request of the Park Commission for the Council to petition the Virginia R&ilway & Power
<br />Co. to extend its tracks to the Almshouse grounds.
<br /> As we have in prospect the use of a part of the Almshouse grounds for a park, it is
<br />recommended that the Virginia Railway & Power Co. be requested to extend its tracks to said pro~.
<br />posed park.
<br />
<br /> Advisability of paving Crawford street on one or both sides from High to London.
<br /> Progress.
<br />
<br /> To take up with the Boar~ Of ~upervisors the question of the County bearing its proportion
<br />of expenses for improving approaches to the Ferry.
<br /> It is recommended that .the Board of Supervisors be requested to bear half of the ex-
<br />penses for the paving of Queen street, from Water to Orawford, and Crawford street, from High
<br />to London, at an estimated cost of ~B,900.O0; the said paving being necessary to make approaches
<br />to the Ferry more convenient for teams going to and fro.
<br />
<br /> A petition of the Park COmmission .tO have the land fronting on the boulevard set in grass
<br />this fall.
<br /> This matter, we believe, belongs properly for consideration of the Almshouse Commit-
<br />See, and it is recommended that it be referred to said Committee.
<br />

<br /> A petition of Wm. H. Armistead to be re-imbursed to amount of $~00. for damages to his
<br />property caused by drain pipe running through block bounded by Scott, Effingham, Duke, and Chest-
<br />nut streets being stopped up; and also asking that said drain be opened.
<br /> We report that we have considered this matter, and it is recommended that the request
<br />be not granted.
<br />

<br /> Authorized to advertise for bids to build a conduit across the south end of Dinwiddie street
<br /> We report that the Committee has had this matter under consideration for some time
<br />past and finally agreed to engage Mr. Johm F. Benson, engineer, to prepare.plans and estimates
<br />for the work.
<br /> Mr. Benson has done so and has submitted two plans, for the same, which hereby accom-
<br />pany.
<br /> It is recommended that plan No. 2 be adopted at an estimated cost of $5,000.00 and
<br />that the Committee be authorized to advertise for bids to do the work at once and that the Fi-
<br />nance Committee be instrnoted to obtain funds for same.
<br /> We submit also a bill of Mr. Ronson for $50. for pr~pa~ing these plans.

<br /> Advisability of extending Hatton street, from London to High; and a communication from
<br /> Harry A. Alexander in regard to sale of his property for the extension of Hatton street to High.
<br /> We have had communications from Mr. H. L. Alexander, Mr. ~. B. Wilkins, and agent for
<br />~Rosenbaum Estate, offering for sale~their property along the extension of said street; and hav-
<br /> ing considered the ~ame, would recommend that Hatton street be opened from London to High, at a
<br /> cost not to exceed ~0,000; Mr. Alexander to finance the whole proposition of acquiring the
<br />
<br />enbaum estate and the property of E. B. Wiikin~, and
<br />without interest, payable July let, 1919.
<br />
