On motion, said resolution was adopted. Mr. Reynolds moved that the body reconsider action taken November 9th as to opening Hatton street. The motion was adopted. He then moved to adopt ~the recommendation of the Street Committee~as to same. Mr. Corbitt moved to amend, that the matter be referred to the Street Committee. The amendment was adopted. "Com~ Light Committee-- A petition of the Board of Police Commissioners for an arc light on Water street opposite the entrance to the Norfolk County Ferries, to be lighted from sundown~ to m~d- night. Water & Sewerage Committee-- A request of the Portsmouth Humane Society for permission to erect an ornamental drinking fountain in the centre of Effingham street, between High_and Queen streets, or between London and Glasgow streets, of said street .... Police Committee-- A petition of the Board of Police Commissioners that Council appropri- ate $155. to pay for the services of six extra patrolmen during the Christmas holidays, from December ~2-~lst, inclusive.
