<br /> Authorized to advertise for bids to pave "Ann St. Sidewalk."
<br /> We report that the City Engineer h~e been instructed to prepare plans a~d specifica-
<br />tions for the work.

<br /> A communication from ~the General Counsel of the S. A. L. Ry. Co. with regard to placing
<br />safety gates mt Elm ~nd Race avenues, Prentis and Race avenues, and where Dinwiddie street
<br />crosses the S. A. L. tracks°
<br /> In a cor~erence of the Committee with Superintendent gm, shall, of the S. A. L. Ry.
<br />0o., and representatives from the Sixth a~d Seventh~Wa~d~Boards, the following wms agreed to
<br />as to what would be a satisfactory mrrangement for the present, n~r~ely: that a smfety gate
<br />be placed on Dinwiddie street where crossed by the S. A. L. R~llw~y tracks, and that when
<br />train is crossing the other two named intersections, the engineers shall slow down to such
<br />rate of~travel as will give pedestrians or drivers of vehicles sufficient wa~vning of its
<br />preach t'o said crossings.

<br />of Peachtree street, between Race avenue and the S. A. L. Ry. tracks, as per blueprint attach-

<br /> It is recommended that said petition be granted, the work to be done under the super-
<br />vision of the City Engineer.

<br /> (With Sixth Weird Board) Opening of Hatton street, from London to High.
<br /> We mske the s~me recommmndation as before, namely: That Hmtton street be opened
<br /> from London to High, at a cost not to exceed $20~000.00~ ~V~o H. L~ Alexander to finance the
<br /> whole proposition of acquiring the Rosenbaum estate and the property of E. B. Wilkins, and
<br /> that he be given the City's note for same, without interest, payable July let, 1919.
<br /> In addition thereto, it is recommended that Er. Alexander be required to grade s~id
<br /> strip of land to correspond with High ~ud London streets, at his own e~ense, as in accordance
<br /> with his letter ~ttached.

<br /> Recommitted. The question of the Virginia Ry. & Power Co. double tracking~High street,
<br />between Cooke and Pearl, to see if the ~h~le.of double tracking, as required at the end of
<br />ten years, can not be done ~t this time.
<br /> After a cor~erenoe with Officials of the Virginia Ry. & Power Co. , we ma~e the same
<br />report ~ud recommendation as before, n~ely: That the Virginia Ry. & Power Co. be permitted
<br />to double track High street, between Cooke and Pearl (where there is now a single track), and
<br />to place a crossing where Hatton street, if extended southward, would meet High street, and
<br />in accordance with plans submitted mcr same.

<br />R~ising a fountain at the corner of Wmshington and County streets.
<br /> It is recommended that this m~tter be referred to the Water & Sewerage Committee.

<br />made to him and that the City Attorney be instructed to dr~ft a contract between him and the
<br />City. to do the work.
