Common Council--Board of Aldermen. <br /> Gentlemen:-- Your Finance Committee re- <br /> <br />spectfully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Finance Commit- <br />tee April li-18th, 1916: <br /> <br />Referred by Common Council April llth. <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $1,200. to curb and gutter Stonewall street, between Green ~nd <br />nut. Progress as to same. <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $550. to pay a bill of J. Crawford Miller & Co. for two horses <br />the Fire Department, out of appropriation in the Budget for "Horses." <br /> It is recommended that said appropriation be allowed, out of appropriation in <br />Budget for "Horses." <br /> <br />Chest- <br /> <br />sold <br />the <br /> <br /> An appropriation to place a fire plug at <br />of Sixth Ward funds. <br /> Progress. <br /> <br />the corner of North <br /> <br />street and TSnth avenue, out <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $9,000. for a Tripple Combination Pumping Engine-Chemical Engine-Hose <br />Motor Car- for the Fire Department. <br /> See action of the Board ,of Aldermen on same. <br /> <br />Reports of Officers for the month of March, !~16. <br /> We have examined said reports, found them correct, and recommend that they be filed. <br /> <br /> A report of the Auditor of the following bills held up by him, because of lack of appropri- <br />ation or because they exceeded 1/12 of appropriation allowed for same: Fire, $12.00; Water Com- <br />mission, <br /> It is recommended that ~u appropriation of $12. be allowed to pay Fire bills, out of <br />appropriation in ~ne Budget for "Horses;" that a special appropriation~of $1690. be made for <br />the Water Commissmon to oa~ry it to September l, 1916, and that Water Commissmon bills on hand <br />amounting to $689.21, be paid out of said appropriation. <br /> <br /> A statement of the Auditor that taxes should be refunded Jas. S. Rodgers to amount of <br />$39.55, paid in error for the years !909-15, inclusive, Sixth Wa~d. <br /> It is recommended that said ~mount be refunded Mr. Rodgers, out of Sixth Wsmd funds. <br /> <br /> A bill of L. C. Smith Bros. Typewriter Agency, to amount of $~5.00, for exchange of a <br />typewriter for the Clerk of the Court. <br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation of $45. be allowed to pay said bill. <br /> <br /> A petition of the Captain of the Salvation Army for ~n appropriation for the probation <br />officer of the Juvenile Court. <br /> Progress. <br /> <br /> A request of the Treasur2r for an appropriation of $10,000. monthly to mee~ School Exp~nses. <br /> I~ is recommended that a special app~op~imtmon of $3,000~ be made for Scnool ~xpens~s <br />for May, 1916. <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $250.L1fO~ a Portable Tar and Asphalt Heater aud a No. 9 Fire Wagon, <br />out of the Budget, freight on same to be paid by the City. <br /> It is recommended that $250. with freight, be made available for this purpose, out <br />of appropriation for same in the Budget. <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aldermen April 18th. <br /> <br />A bill of the League of Virginia Municipalities te ~mount of $3~.00, for the year 1916. <br /> It.is recommended that said bill be paid, out of appropriation for same in the Budget. <br /> <br />(With Police Committee) A petition of the Board of Police Commissmone. e for an appropria- <br />of $31.20 to purchase 12 pairs of handcuffs for the Police Department. <br /> Progress. <br /> <br />A contract and bond of F. J. EcGuire to do paving on certain street~. <br /> We have examined sam~ contract aud bond and it is recommended thmt same be accepted. <br /> <br /> It is f-~rther recommended that the contract of A. F. Flynn to curb s.nd gutter the <br />foliowing streets be accepted: south side of Wythe street, between Third and Fourth; west ~ide <br />of Third, between Harrison and ythe, and north smd~ of~ ~ythe, between Second and Fourth. <br /> <br /> It is further recommended that $3,6?2.8? in the Paving Bond Account be made available <br />for Street Paving purposes. <br /> <br /> <br />
