<br /> The Mayor ~eturned h~s ~oproval of the following matters adopted by the two branches of City

<br /> An appropriation of $32~.00, $200. out of "Repairs to Sweeper" ~d $125..ou~ of "Repairs to
<br />Brooms" in the Budget of i916, for a new Sweeper for the Street Department.
<br /> ~ To instruct ~he Auditor to pay, when due~ sale=les of the Judges of the Circuit ~nd Hustings
<br />Courts for the year begin~i~gFebruary
<br /> An appropriation of ~3~0.00, out of apprspriation to Sewerage Department~in the Budget, to
<br />extend ~nd renew a sewerage outlet at Hospital Park~
<br /> A special appropriation of $225. to make needed improvements to the Hook & Lmdder qumrters,
<br />provided improvements to the roof ~re made before the money is paid.
<br /> An mppropriation of $160. to print 200 copies of the Mayor's Message for 1915, smd award
<br />~ade to W. A. Fiske to do the work.
<br />A special appropriation of $~50. to construct a culvert on Harrison street near ~ashington.
<br />A special appropriation of $6,000.~ allowed as a substitute for interest on Street Paving
<br />Bond funds used by the City, and the Finance Committee authorized to make notes in the several
<br />City bar~s for
<br /> To request the Bo~d of Harbor Commissioners to fix the lines for Gaader Creek as follows:
<br />From the Union Bridge to the Gosport Bridge, the channel to be 40 feet wide, but said channel
<br />to be so deflected where it reaches Bart street as not to change the lines of said street. And
<br />from the Union Bridge to Washington street, the channel to be fixed 20 feet wide.
<br /> To grant permission to The Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co. to construct a conduit under
<br />Glasgow street; and to construct poles on London, Queen, High, Ninth and Fifth streets; as sho.wn
<br />by copy of drawing attached to petition therefor; p~evided the wor~ be done under the supervision
<br />o~ the Cit~y Engineer mud said. Compan~y reserve a pipe~in the construction of the conduit for use
<br />of th~ City.
<br /> To g~ant permission to The Chesapeake & Potomac TSlephcne~Co~p~Dy to construct four poles
<br />onSoott street, between Green and Washington; as shown by copy of drawing attached to petition
<br />therefor; the work to be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. To make available $400. allowed in the Budget for "Catching Dogs."
<br /> To instruct the Public Property & Schools Committee to make needed repairs to the feed room
<br />of the Park Piew Engine House, and an appropriation of $315. for said work referred to the Fi-
<br />nance Committee.

<br /> Fourth. Reports of Officers and'other unfinished bu$iness~

<br /> The regular reports of Officers for the month of June, 1916, were presented and were order-
<br />ed to take the usual course.
<br />
<br /> On motion, the recommendation of the Board of Health that award be made to E.
<br />the removal of night soil from the Sixth smd Seventh Wards at $1.50 per house per year,
<br />to lie on the ~able by this b~dy July 18th, w~s taken up~aud oonsidered.
<br /> Mr. Markham moved that the r~oommendation of the Board of Health be adopted,
<br />motion w~s s~iopted by the following vote:

<br /> A notice wms ~eceived from Mrs. Samuel A. Staples that she will no~ qualify ms a member of
<br />the Park Co~ission, to which body she w~s recently elected by the Council.
<br /> On motion, said matter ~s referred to a Joint Session of the two braaohes of Council.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Privett moved to refer ~o the Finance and Public Property & Schools committees Jointly
<br />the matter of repairs to the City Jail roof. The motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> N=. Cart moved to refer to the Street Committee the raising of sidewalk on the corner of
<br />High and Washington streets. ~ne motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> On motion of ~Lr. Wilson, the clea~ing of g~tters on Third street, between Fayet%e and Lin-
<br />coln, was referred to the street Committee.
<br />
<br /> -Mr. Browne stated that he desired to bring up an old subject, namely,-the d~air~ge between
<br />the Sixth and Seventh Wards and by the property of the portsmouth Coal ann's'Ice comPany~¥~ '
<br /> He said it would cost about $600. to remedy the condition at this point.
<br /> ~nereupon~ on motion, the m~tter was referred to the Finance and Street committees jointly.
<br />
<br /> Er. MArkham moved thmt the Clerk be instructed to write again to the President of the Scm-
<br />board Air Line Railway Company and request him tO have removed the old t~ack on upper High street,
<br />~nich formerly extended into private property. The motion wms adopted.
