Common Council--Board of Aldermen._ Gentlemen:-- Your Street Committee respect- fully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to thy Joint Street C~mmittee June l~th, 1916, and April 13-20th, l~lS: Referred by Common Council June l~th. A petition of A. C. Powers ~ others for a g~anolithic sidewalk on the strong street, between Glasgow ~nd Holladay. Progress as to same~ west side of Arm- A petition of The Chesapeske & Potomac Telephone Co. for permission to erect three poles on the south side of Stonewall street, as shown by attached copy of drawing. It is recommended that the petition be granted, the work to be done under th, super- vision of the City Engineer. (With Finance Committee) A petition from the Committee.for the "Commission for t~he Purchase amd Improvement of Roads of Norfolk County" that ~e City assist it in the improvement of County roads leading into the City. We m~ke the s~me report on this petition as ms~le by the Finauoe Committee. Attention os~lled to the condition of grating at the corner of Fourth and Wythe streets. It is recommended that a catch basin and pipe~line be put in at this location at an estimated cost of SYs.00,to remedy the condition existing. A petition o£ John F. Seventh, for a g~anolithic Progress. Simms a~d other property owners on Jefferson street, between Sixth and sidewalk on said street. Referred by two branches April 13-20th. Authorized to fix a price for the City steam roller and to sell the s~me. As authorized, we have sold the City steamroller to F. J~ McGuire for the sum of $1,0~0 and we recommend that we be allowed the $1,000. received from the sale of the roller for further street improvements. (Slgned) S. Cleburne Browne, Chairman. Browne moved to amend that the $i~000. to be received from the ~g~O~the City ~team roller be turned into general ~O~ f~nds, instead of being used for further street improvements, as recommended by the Committee. The amendment was adopted. Then the reDort of the Committee w~s adopted, ms amended, the recommended approprimtion of $?5. for a catch basin and pipe line at the corner of Fourth and Wythe streetsbeing referred to the Finance Committee. Public Property & Schools-- Hon. Common Council--Boa~d of Aldermen. Gentlemen:-- Your Public Property & Schools Committee respectfully reports herein concerning the following mmtters referred to the Joint Public Property & Schools Committee June l%th, 1916: Referred by Common Council June l~th. (For expla~mtion) A bill held up by the Auditor in May to amount of $~2.00. ~e report that this bill is for seven directories fu~nishedvarious City Officers,while money was approprimted in the Budget for six only. Therefore, it is recommended that $36.00, ~llowed in the Budget° be made available for six of these directories and that a special ~ppropriation of $6. be made for the seventh one. ~nglne House.
