<br /> Each person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of fixing or wiring houses'with
<br />electrical apparatus, $10.00.
<br />
<br /> Each fortune teller, spirit medium, clairvoyant, or p~lmist, $300.~0.

<br /> Each person, firm or corporation, whether they be residents, non-residents, or agents,
<br />who shall engage in the business of job printing or book binding, $25.00.

<br /> Each person or firm ca~rying on the business of cold storage, $20°00.
<br />
<br /> Each person, firm or corporation carrying on the business of cles~uing and dyeing, and
<br />each "pressing club," .$10,00.
<br />
<br /> Each person o~firm carrying on the business of shoeing horses, $3. for each anvil used
<br />over the first one.
<br />
<br /> Each person, firm or corporation who shall engage in the business of wharf building and
<br />piling, or contracting for same, $25.00.
<br />
<br /> Each light~ing rod agent putting up work in the city, $10.00.
<br />
<br /> Each person, firm or corporation who shall engage in the business of packing oysters, $40.,
<br />and for the packing of oysters ~nd crabs or fish, or all three kinds, $75.00.
<br />
<br /> Each shoe parlor mud like places for blacking shoes, $5- and 5 per cent. additionsl on
<br />rental value in excess of $100.00; s~ud for bootblacks plying their business on the streets,
<br />
<br /> Second-hand shoes aud boots brought into the city to sell, $25.00.
<br />
<br /> Each person, firm or corporation operating a ticket office, other than a cut rate ticket
<br />office, a~d other tha~u such as m~y be at the depot~or station of transportation companies, $10.00.
<br />
<br /> Each person, firm or corporation who shall engage in the business of towing barges, boats,
<br />&c., $10.00.
<br />
<br /> Each contractor or sub-contractor engaged in oarpentrM,~brick or concrete work, concrete
<br />flooring or paving, and employing one or more journeymen, $2~.00. -
<br />
<br /> Each contractor or sub-contractor doing painting, plastering, paper hanging or such other
<br />work not herein specified. ~l~.O0: but if the contractor or sub-contractor engage in painting
<br />and paper hanging togethe~,~$~0.0$.
<br />
<br /> Each person employing more than one workm~n for any one class of work who shall erect or
<br />construct or repair houses for the purpose of selling or renting the same, and not employing
<br />therefor a contractor or person who shall act as superintendent who has paid the license tax,
<br />as above provided, $25.00. No license required under this section shall be transferred~
<br />
<br /> Each person, firm or corporation who shall engage in the business of supplying water through
<br />pipes or m~ins, not operating ~nder contract with the city, one-half of one per cent. from gross
<br />receipts of same.

<br />Each horse kept for hire, no~ otherwise licensed, $5.00~
<br />
<br />Each case in which a license is not designated in this tax ordinance a specific tax of
<br />is hereby imposed.
<br />
<br /> Each person, firm or corporation doing a business at more tha~ one place, Sta~l or stand,
<br />shall be required to take out a separate license for each of such places, stalls or stands.
<br />
<br /> If any person, firm or corporation shall commence or engage in any business, trade, call-
<br />ing or profession or employment on which a tax is imposed by this ordinance, without first pay-
<br />ing the tax imposed, ~e or they shall be fined not less than $5. or more than $100.00; and each
<br />d~y's failure to obtamn the licens~'a~te~ proper notice therefor, shall constitute a separate
<br />offense.
<br />
<br /> Each person, firm or corporation required to pay a license tax under the provisio~$ of
<br />this ordinance shall post and keep posted in m conspicuous place the receipt for said payment,
<br />and any one violating this provision shall be subject to a fine of not less than $2. and not
<br />more than $10. for each and every dmy or part of a day that said receipt is not kept posted.
<br />
<br /> It is made the duty o~ the Police Department to report to the Mayor of the city any viola-
<br />tion of this ordinance which ~y come under his notice.
<br />
<br /> Each person, firm or corporation, company, partnership or association liable to a license
<br />tax under this ordinance shall, before being granted a certificate for obtaining such license,
<br />be required to certify under oath to the Commissioner of the Revenue their actual or probable
<br />commission, and to the other ihterrogatories of said commissioner applic&ble tothe business
<br />to be pursued.
<br />
<br /> No tax shall be assessed upon the capital of any bank or bsm~king association organized
<br /> under the authority of this State or of the United States, nor upon the capital of any trust
<br /> or security company chartered by this State, but the stockholders in such banks, banking as-
<br /> sociations, trust and security companies shall be assessed and taxed on the market value of
<br /> their shares of stock therein. Pro~ided that the market value of said stock shall be estimated
<br /> at a sum not less than the aggregate of the capital, su~vplus and ur~iivided profits of each
<br />'bank, banking house associa~ion~ trust and eeeur~t~ c~-~as shown by its last published
<br />
