<br /> Mr. Herbert csilied attention to a. horse formerly used by the Hook & Ladder Fire Company,
<br />which is now too old to work; and he w~shed instructions as to wh~t to do with him.
<br /> On motion, the Fire Committee was instructed to turn the horse over to the Humane
<br />Society, or to someone else who would ca~e for him. and not work him.
<br />
<br /> The question of purchase of a new cemetery was taken up, when Mr. Montague moved that
<br />the body concur with the Boa~d of Aldermen in purchase of the Maynard track.
<br /> Mr. Morga~ moved tO amend, that the Maynard site and all other sites offered for cem-
<br />etery purposes be sent to the Cemetery Committee to obtain the best terms for which same can
<br />be purchased. The motion was adopted.

<br /> Mr. Wright (Ea~i H.) moved that this body concur in action of the Board of Aldermen April
<br />18th in purchase of the Alexander property for extension of Hatton street, from .London to High,
<br />for $20~000.00, under conditions as ~roposedby Mr. Alexander.
<br /> Mr. White moved to amend, 4o give $1~,000. for the property.
<br /> The motion was lost.
<br /> Then the motion by Er. Wright was adopted and by the fcllowing vote:

<br /> Mr~ Herbert remarked that, owing to the la, ge increase of membership of the several fire
<br />companies of late, he believed that one band of music would not be sufficient for the firemen's
<br />parade in May, ~nd ha..mo~d~ that mn additiona~ appropriation of $~5- be allowed for another
<br />band, Themotion was ~iopted.

<br />places in Oak Grove Cemetery dirt to be taken fr~m Cooke street, when pa~ed.

<br /> N~. Leavitt moved to refer to Police Committee, with power to act, to provide a stamd a~d
<br />awning for protection of the traffic officer at the corner of Court and High streets.
<br /> The motion was adopted~

<br /> The Chairman of the Fire Committee react m communication from the Hook & Ladder Fire Com-
<br />pany, in which they asked for some improvement to their qumrters.
<br /> The Chairm~n stated that he hs~i looked into the matter and h~d found it would take a-
<br />bout $225. to m~ke the needed improvements, and he moved that ~n appreprimtion to that amount
<br />be referred to the Public Property and Finance committees. The motion was s~iopted.
