R. C. P. 'May 9, 1916. On motion, the report with regard to selecting school sites was adopted and w~s ordered to file. A~ this point~ Mr. l{anvey moved that the rules be suspended to hear from Mr. R. A. Hut- chins, Jr., a member of the Board of H~rbor 'Commissioners, in regard to Gander Creek. The mo~i~ was adopted. Mr. Hurry,ins spoke in substance as follows: Hs said that he represented the Board of Harbor Commissio~ in the m~ttsr of survey of Gander Creek; that the Harbsr Commissioners were unable at this time to take any steps in the matter, because all blueprints andplans for Port Warden lines of Gander Creek h~ui been lost in the fire mt the old Atlantic Hotel some years ago, and he suggssted~ therefore, that the Council would take some further action there- on. Whereupon, on motion, the matter of lines for Gander Creek was referred to the Street Committee, with the City Engineer and City Attorney. Ordinances-- Hon. Common Council--Board of Aldermen. Gentlemen:-- You~ Ordinance Committee respectfully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Ordinance Committee April~lSth, 1916: Referred by Boa~d of Aldermen April 18th. Advisability of an ordinance governing the sale of produce, &c., in the Market. Progress as to same. Advisability of mn ordinance requiring all drivers of jitneys and automobiles for hire to be 18 years of age and over. Progress. To draft an ordinance to fix the representation among the several City Wards as redistrict- ed, and to fix the pay of same. It is recommended that the following ordinance be adopted to cover the same: An Ordinance to' Amend land Re-ordain Section ll2 of the Ordinauces of the City of Portsmouth~With Regard to Representation Among the Several Wards of the City. Advisability of an ordinance to cover the cases of disabled or superannuated firemen and policemen. It is recommended that the following ordinancebe adopted therefor: merits. A financial quorum now being present, the report of the Finance Committee was taken up. Finance-- Hon. Common Council--Board of Aldermen. Gentlemen:-- Your Finance Committee respectfully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Finance Committee April ll-18th, 1916: Referred by Common Council April llth. An appropriation of $1,200. to curb and gutter Stonewall street, ~ut. Progrsss as to sa~s. An appropriation of $550. to pay a bill of J. Crawford ~iller & the Fire Department, out of appropriation in the Budget for "Horses." It is recommended that said appropriation be ~llowed, out of Budge~ for "Horses." between Green and Chest- Co. for two horses sold appropriation in the An appropriation to plmce a fire plug at the corner of North street and Tenth avenue, out of Sixth Ward funds.
