It is recommended that a catch basin and pipe llne be put in at this location mt an estimated cost of $75.00~ to remedy the condition existing. A petition cf John y. Simms and other property owners on Jefferson street, between Sixth and Seventh, for a granolithic sidewalk on said street. Progress. Referred by two branches April 13-20th. The report having been read, Mr. Hanvey moved to amend that the $1,000. to be received from the sale of the City steam roller be turned into general City funds, instead of being used~ for further street improvements, as recommended by the Committee. The amendment was adopted. Then the report of the Committee was adopted, as amended, the recommended appropriation of $75. for a catch b~sin a~d pipe line at the corner of Fourth and Wythe streets being r~ferred to the Finance Committee. Public Property & Schools-- Hon. Common Council--Boa~d of Aldermen. Gentlemen:-- Your Pub- lic Property & Schools Committee respectfullyreports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Public Property & Schools Committee June 14th, 1916: Referred by Common Council June 14th. (For explanation) A bill held up by the Auditor in May to amount of $4~.00. We report that this bill is for seven directories furnished va~ious City Officers, while money was appropriated in the Budget for six only. Therefore, it is recommended that $36.00, allowed in the Budget, be made available for six of these directories and that a special appropriation of $6. be made for the seventh one. Instructed to make needed repairs to the feed room of the Park View Engine House. We report that this matter is being looked suffer. A petition of Grimes Battery to h~ve suitable provisions made for stabling the horses of said Battery. Progress as to same. (With Finance Committee) A request of the Park Commission fo~ approval of the employment of a man director for a period no~ exceeding two months at a salary of $45. a month and a lady director for the same time and at the same sala~y, provided the total salaries paid come out of the appropriation of $500. in the Budget of 1916. We make the same report on this request as made by the Finance Committee. A communication from The Housewives League in regsurd to unsanitary condition of the ~ege- table market.
