Eawxn ~, ~ma~e ~ <br /> antine Commissioner, agminst 'the Board of Quarantine Commissioners. <br /> On motion, s~id matter was referzed to the Department of Public Welfmre. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS. <br /> <br /> The Chairmmn of the Department of Public Safety presented a communication to him from the <br />Chief of Police, in which smid Chief ~sked thmt an ordinance be passed limiting the number of <br />pawnbfoEer shops in the City to three; and, on motion, said matter was referred to the Depart- <br />ment of Law for ~n ordinance. <br /> A resignation of the Board of Park Commissioners w~s read and was accepted, and said re- <br />signation was ordered to file. <br /> On recommendation of the Department cf Public Safety, a bill of Minter & Mason to amount <br />of $39.40, for repairs to tSe PatrolI Wagon, was atlowe~. <br /> On motion of Mr. D~shiell, the Departmen~ of Public Service and the M~yor were instructed <br /> tO take up with the Semboemd Air Line Railway Co. the lowering of its t=~cks on Crawford street. <br />Mr. Moxgan moved that the sidewalks on Washington, Effingham, .Crawfo=d..and~o~her~s~sets <br />where' recent paving has bee~ done~ be repaired, and thmt an appropriation to amount of $1,500. <br />· .be m~de to pay the cost of same. And also that three feet be left ~pen by side of curbing <br />where trees are plmnted on the wide streets, with the exception of business houses. <br /> The motion was ~dopted and the appropriation of $1,500. fo= the work was referred to <br /> the Finance Department. <br /> Mr. Herbert called attention to the fact that there ~s between $7,000. a~d $10,O00. per- <br /> sonal property taxes unpmid upon the books of the City Collector and thmt some effort should be <br /> marie to collect the same. <br /> This resulted in much discussion and finally it wms decided to hmve the Department of <br /> Finance go into the mmtter with a view of suggesting some plan for the collection of all ~a~~ <br /> ~inqu~.p~r~onml.p~opert~ t~xe~. <br /> On motion of ~r.
