<br />the Chief of the Fire Department, the head aud vice-he~d of the Department of Public Ss~fety,
<br />with the Mayor, inspected the several engine houses and fire apparatus of the City, as required
<br />hy the City Ordinances.

<br /> "Also we m~de an inspe~tmon .of the moving picture theatres on this date .and wish to re-

<br /> "PALACE THEATRE: It is recommended that the matter of installing au exit at the north
<br />side of ~ne DulAemng similar to that at the south side of rear end of building be referred to
<br />the Dep~rtment of Public Safety for reoommend~tion.

<br /> "ORPHEUM THEATRE~ It is recommended that the Chief of PoIice be instructed to confer with
<br />the m~nagement of the Orpheum Theatre with a view of providing a planto prevent the crowding~
<br />9f the main entrance doorsof .this theatre. Also that the question of cleauing the alley-way<
<br />mn rear o~ Commercial Building stores be referred to the Chief of the Fir~ Department for his
<br />attention.

<br /> "OLYMPIC THEATRE: It was noticed during the inspection of thisbuilding that the space
<br />over'the theatre is in need of a~tention, ms there is stored in this space a miscellaneous lot
<br />of waste material, p~er, trash, &C. '
<br /> ,Also the electric wiring overhead appears to be in poor condition.
<br /> "It is recommended that these matters be referred to the Chief of the Fire Dep~rtmsnt~
<br />e~ud the Superintendent of FireAiarm, respectively, for ~heir attention a~d for a report ~o
<br />the head of the Department of Public Snfety.
<br /> "~_~PIRE THEATRE (colored): The~surroundings of this theatre are not in a olean ~nd order-
<br />ly condition and, therefore, it is r~commsnded that the Sanitary Inspector be inst~uctedto see
<br />that the weeds, grass and trash are cleared from the back yard; also thmt the Chis~ of ~he Fire
<br />Department be instructed to see that the wmste paper and ~rash are Cleared from the rooms back
<br />of the theatre, ~lso that a light and a suitable sign are installed at the exit door near rear
<br />end of the building. And it is further recommended that the Superintendent of the Fire Alarm
<br />be instructed to inspect the machine room or operator's booth at this theatre.
