Panfish, 6. <br /> <br />The minutes of the meeting October 3rd were read and were approved. <br /> <br />The following reports of Departments were presented and were read: <br /> <br />Public Service-- <br /> Referred October 3rd. <br /> <br /> Recommitted. A pet'ition of J. Thcs._ Hedges for relief from the mamm~er i~ which the City <br />is draining the surface water off the southeast corner of Washing~ca~ ~ee~' sad Race avenue east <br />on Race avenue from the culvert under the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. <br /> We h~ve =econsidbred this matter and report that, while, in our opinion, more drainage <br />work is needed in this lo.cality, yet it is not advisable to attempt more at present and~ there- <br />fore, recommend as previously recommended, That the sidewalk on Washington' street and curbing on <br />Race avenue be raised at this point sad that the remainder of necessary work be provided for in <br />in the Budget of 1917. <br /> <br /> Attention called to the condition of the drain at the corner of South and Dinwiddie streets. <br /> We report that this matter has been'attended to. <br /> <br /> (With Law Department) Advisability of discontinuing the Sixth and SeVenth Ward Local Boar~s <br />of Imp~ovement~ <br /> We have considered this m~tter with the Department of L~w and it is recommended that <br />the Sixth and Seventh Ward Boa~ds berequested to,appear before The Council at a subsequent.meet- <br />ing of same for a discussion of this matter. <br /> <br /> Referred September 19th. <br /> <br /> (With Mayor) To take up with the Seaboard Air Line-Ry. Co. the lowering of its tracks on <br />Crawford street. <br /> We ~eport that-we have discussed this matter with lit. W. L. Sodden, Vice-President of <br />said Eompauy, and he agrees with the Department that these tracks should be lowered a~ the cor- <br />ners of London, Glasgow, sad North streets, sad to be boarded along the tracks at these points <br />for convenience of vehicle travel, all of the work to be done to the satisfaction of the City <br />Engineer° <br /> Previously Referred. <br /> <br /> The matter of removal of the Switch track of the Seaboard Air Line Railway Co~ on upper <br />High street, extending from its property to the property of H. L. Alexander. <br /> lit. Sodden has agreed for his Company to remove this switch, with the proviso that a <br />track may be subsequently laid across High street and parallel with the old track ru~ning into <br />London street. <br /> <br />(Signed) W.D.
