D. Morgan, Chas. T. Pettish, 6. <br /> The minutes of the regular meeting. October 17th, Special meetings October 19th and 20th, <br />~djourned special meetings October 23 2~-27-30th, regular meeting October 31et, adjourned <br />gular meeting November 2nd, and special meetings November 3-~th were read.and were approved. <br /> At this point, on motion, the rules were suspended to hear from members of the Sixth and <br />Seventh Ward Boards with regard to the matter for which they h~d been asked to. come before the <br />meeting, namely, the advisability of discontinuing the said Boards- <br /> The members from the Sixth Ward were not p~esent and the Seventh Ward members expressed <br />themselves as having no choice in the matter. <br /> Whereupon, Mr. Morgan moved that further action in regard to the Boards be deferred un- <br />til a General Manager shall have been appointed. The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF DEPARTMENTS. <br /> <br /> The Departments of~ Law, Public Service, Public Property, Public Saffety, and Public Welfare <br />reported Progression the matters referred to them. <br /> <br />Finance-- <br /> <br />Referred October 31st. <br /> <br /> An appropriation o~ $700. to purchase two lots to extend London.s~reet on sm angle to cor- <br />respond~with property on Ninth avenue. <br /> It is recommended ~hat sa~d appropriation be allowed, out of Sixth Ward funds. <br /> An appropriation of $60. for temporary repairs to the Scott's Creek Bridge. <br /> It is recommended that an appropriation to said amount be allowed for said purpose. <br /> To provide in the Budget of 1~$? for permanent improvements, with concrete culvert, to the <br />Scott's Creek Bridge. <br /> It is recommended that said matter be referred to the Budget of 1917. <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $250~ for coal at the Sewerage Power House for Eevember a~d December, <br />l 16, <br /> It is recommended that said appropriation be meowed. <br /> <br /> An appropriation of a~proximately $30,000. to improve Godwin street and~Sixt~ ~nd Seventh <br />avenues, and to lay a granolithic sidewalk on e~ch side of High street from the City ~imits to <br />Chestnut street. <br /> Progress as to same. <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $50..l~o.pay a bill of C. $. Sherwood for attention to the City Hall <br />clock for the years 1915 <br /> It is recommer~iea that an~appropriation to said. amount be allowed fo~ su~ purpose. <br /> <br /> An appropriation to install an inets~utaneous heater in the bath room and a ~o~celain sink <br />down stmirs, at the Park View Engine Company; a stove for the Independent?FireCompanY; and <br />heater and g~e light at the Annex Hose Company; at a total cost of $135.00. <br /> It is recommended than app~opriation of $135. be allowed~for said items. <br /> <br />An appropriation of $850. to ceil overhead and paint some light color the Vegetable Market. <br /> tt is recommended that said appropriation be allowed. <br /> <br /> To negotiate the sale of $200,000. of notes, due January l, 1~17. <br />At a meeting of the City Co~ucil November 4th th~ pzOposition of J. Robinson, <br />for revising, &c., the City Registration books. <br /> We report Progress on this matter, while investigating certain complaints ~made by <br />persons in J~ckson and Jefferson Wards thmt ~heir names have been omitted from the registration <br />books. (Signed) C.H. Herbert, Chairmar~. <br /> <br /> The ~eport having been read, the Chairm~ of the Depmrtment stated that, although the <br />Council had accepted the offer of~J. C. Mayer & Co. to refund $200,000. of City notes, he would <br />move that it hold up further action in the m~tter until the City Attorney shall have presented <br />a suitable ordinance to cover sa&d loan, and thmt said ordinance be t~ken up at the next meet- <br />ing of the Council; and he so moved.
