April 10, 2001 - ~01 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, April 10, 2001, there were present: *Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J: Thomas Benn Ill, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Daniel M. Stuck, Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson. 01 - 110 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2001 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 01 - 111 - The following item was discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Proposed City Budget and CIP Briefing 01 - 112 - Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: Discussion concerning a prospective business or industry where no previous announcement has been made of the business' or industry's interest in locating in the community, as permitted under Subsection A.5; Discussion of the disposition of publicly held real property in the southern part of the city where discussion in open meeting would adversely affect the negotiating strategy of the city, as permitted under Subsection A.3; and A personnel matter involving a City Council appointee, as permitted under Subsection A.1 The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
