Public Welfare-- The Vice-Chairm~n reco~uended that the lots in the recent ~ddition to 0a~ Grove Cemetery be sold at the s~me price for which they were sold in the old part of said Cemetery, namely, $50. for a whole lot and $30. for a half lot. The City Ear~ager stated that he thought if the lots were sold for that price, the City would lose by the transaction. A lengthy,discussion followed, and finally, Mr. Eorris moved to amend, thmt the matter be held up under the special meeting to be called for Tuesday night next. The amendment was ~iopted. A report of the Auditor of the following bills held Up by him, becaUse of lack o£ ~propri- ation for same: Water CommiSsion, $2,0~.53; Portsmouth Gms Co. for lights'for pUblic $~ildings for November, 1916, $28.60; Portsmouth Coal & Ice Co. for coal at Sewerage Power House for Nov. ~, 1916, $117.25; J. N. Dews for Drugs for November, $11E.30; Police for burial of paupers, $25.00. We have recommended to the Council that these bills be paid and said recommendation was s~opted.
