January 23, 191?~ <br /> <br />Public Property-- <br /> <br />Public Safety-- <br /> No <br /> <br />No report. <br /> <br />report. <br /> <br />Public Welfare-- <br /> The Vice-Chairm~n reco~uended that the lots in the recent ~ddition to <br /> 0a~ Grove Cemetery be sold at the s~me price for which they were sold in the old part of said <br /> Cemetery, namely, $50. for a whole lot and $30. for a half lot. <br /> <br /> The City Ear~ager stated that he thought if the lots were sold for that price, the City <br />would lose by the transaction. <br /> A lengthy,discussion followed, and finally, Mr. Eorris moved to amend, thmt the matter <br />be held up under the special meeting to be called for Tuesday night next. <br /> The amendment was ~iopted. <br /> <br /> Finance-- <br /> Referred J~uuary 9th. <br /> <br /> (With SchOol Board) To report tothe Council as to borrowing money for the erection of a <br />n~w HighSchool Building a~d a colored School building, <br /> We hmve reported on this m~tter. <br /> <br /> A report of the Auditor of the following bills held Up by him, becaUse of lack o£ ~propri- <br />ation for same: Water CommiSsion, $2,0~.53; Portsmouth Gms Co. for lights'for pUblic $~ildings <br />for November, 1916, $28.60; Portsmouth Coal & Ice Co. for coal at Sewerage Power House for Nov. <br />~, 1916, $117.25; J.
