February 27, l~l?. <br /> <br /> Mr. Eorris offered the following resolution with re~vd to wood yards, and same was adopted: <br /> "Be it Resolved by the Council that the petition of certain citizens requesting the <br />removal of wood yards from the five old wards of the City~ a~d after due consideration of the <br />matter by the Council, that the Council deem it unwise and inexpedient and not in accord with <br />the interests of the citizens to abolish wood yards from the old five Nards at this time~ and <br />that further, the matter of surrounding these wood yards with proper fire protection be refer- <br />red to the City ~nager for report.~ <br /> The Chairman of the Departmmnt of Public Service recommended for his Department concurrence <br />in the report of the E~nager regarding the wmter question~and requested a conference with the <br />Water Commission at ~n early date. <br /> On motion, said recommendation was concurred in, <br /> M~. Buntin~ moved to refer to ~Finance Department for an approprmat~on of ~00. for repairs <br />to public ~uild~ngs, and especially fo~ repairs to the office of the City Collector, <br /> The motion was adopted, <br /> <br /> The Ch~irm~n of the Public Safety Department moved to refer to Law Department Zor an a~end- <br /> ment to the police ordinances, so ms to increase 2he pay of new policeman to $2,50 per day after <br /> sixty days~ service, instead of twelve months, as at present; same to go into effect M~rch let, <br /> The motion was adopted~ <br /> <br />On motion, ~djourned~ <br /> <br />March 2, I~17, <br /> <br /> At a special me~ting of the City Council Ea~oh 2nd there were present: <br /> <br /> Eessrs--T. A. Bunting, Oscie Dashiell, J~ T, H~nvey, <br /> C. H. Herbert, Jno~ Ac ~orris, 5- <br /> The object of the meeting w~s to consider bids,for th~ purchase of $150,000~ of School Bonds~ <br /> There were severs~l agents present representing their respective bonding oompanies~ but as <br />they stated that their companies had no hiEher bids to ma~e for these bonds than they h~d m~de <br />previously, the Co~cil decided not to hmve the bids re~. <br /> <br /> However, it w~s a~eed ~uosequ~n~ly oy t Council to ~v~ ~ option on said bonds to <br />C~m~mn=s, Pr~den & Co,, of New York City, mt $.95 for ten days. <br /> <br />On motion, <br /> <br />adjourned, <br /> <br /> <br />
