Dashiell moved that the privilege of the floor be granted to the Plumbing tnspecto~ <br />who was preseAt, to speak as to the proposed &bolishm~nt of the Plumbing Board. <br /> The motion was adopted, and the Plu~sing Inspector explained the position of the Plumb- <br />ing Board. <br /> Then ~r. Finally, Mr. Daehiell moved that the report be mdopted, as amended, except ms to <br />abolishing the Plumbing Board, which should be referred to the City Attorney to give his written <br />opinion as to the legality of the body to abbtlsh said Board. <br /> The motion was adopted, and then the report, &s amended. <br /> <br /> Finance-- <br /> Referred February 27th. <br /> <br /> A recommendation of the City ~anager that ~ids be asked for from both local and out-of- <br />town banks ms to lending the City money, the proposals to be submitted to state the maximum per- <br />cent&ge which will be charged on loans; a contract to be then entered into with the bank or <br />banks making the most favorable bid or bids. <br /> We request that the recommend&rich of the City Manager be submitted to the Council to <br />dispose of as a committee of the whole. <br /> <br /> A suggestion of the City Manager that ~teps be taken so that the tax assessment might be <br />completed by January 1st, instea~i of at prs=ent, and that the taxes D,~ collected in two semi- <br />annual inst&lment s. <br /> As a carrying out of the suggestion would conflict with the State Law on the matter, <br />it is recommended that the suggestion be not carried out at this time. <br /> <br /> Appropriations to place the following lights: <br />between Chestnut and Pine; on Clifford mhd Chestnut; <br /> Progress ~s to sa~e, <br /> <br />on the Cat Hole Bridge~ <br />and at the west end of <br /> <br />on Griffin street, <br />Caroline street. <br /> <br /> To make available money to pay F. J.
