The minutes of the re~lar meeting Aprii 10th ~ere read mhd wore approved, REPORTS OF DEP~RTEENTS Law-- The Vice-Chairman submitted the following ve_oal repo~t: Referred April 10th, Recommendation of the City ~an~ger that an ordinance be drafted requiring that all ice wagons be equipped with scales, It is recommended that the following ordinance be adopted to cover same: An Ordinance Requiring Retail Ice Dea~lers~.to Keep Sta~ud~rd Scales and to ~eigh Ice Sold by Them, It is recommended further that the following ordinance be adopte~ AN ORDINANCE TO AEENDAND RE-ORDAiN SECTION 2 OF ~ORDINANCE ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE TO REQUIRE ALL PERSONS TO OBTAIN FROM THE CITY ENGINEER A P~REIT TO OPEN OR DIG UP THE STREETS OF THE CITY, TO REQUIRE APPLICATIONS TO BE NADE TO THE CITY ENGINEER FOR THE PRIVILEGE; TO FIX A SC~ULE OF CHARGES FOR THE PRIVILEGE; AND TO REQUIRE OF EACH APPLICANT A BOND TO SAVE HAB~ESS THE CITY FRO~ IN- JURIES RESULTING. FRO~ THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE !PPLICANT~" C. H. Herbert, V_c~-Cha~man, On motion, under the rules, the ordinance with regard to requiring retail ,ice dealers to keep s~anda~d scales and to weigh ice sold by them was ordered to lie on the table. On motion, the rules were suspended, and the =ecommended ~mendment to Section ordinance entitled, "An O~dinance to Require all Persons to Obtain from the City Engineer a Per- mit to 0pon or DiE Up the Streets of the City, &O," was adopted, and by tho following vote{ Ayes--~anting, Claud, Dashiell, Ms~nvey, Herbert, ~org%n~ Public Service~- No report~ Public Property-- Referred ~ril 10th. (With City Manager) To confer with a committee from the Board of Supervisors of Norfolk County in the matter of authorizing The Ferries Co. to make a fixed and ad~qumte o~arge for ad- ditional service rendered by said Company in transporting vehicles weighing more than 6~000 lbs~ Progress as to same, ~gned) T, Al ~nt~ng~ Chmirman.
