Bunting moved that the Council go into an election to fill the vacancies on the body, <br /> caused by the resignation therefrom of Oscie Dmshiell and Jno. A.'Norris. <br /> The motion was adopted, and Mr. ~Bunting nominated Carroll D. Des~us to fill the vacancy <br />caused by resignation of Nr. Norris, and M~v. Herbert nomi~ted Earl H. Wright to fill the <br />oancy cmused by resignation of Mr. Dashieli; a~d there being no other nominations, they were <br />elected by the following vote, the vote being the same for each: <br /> For--Bunting, Claud, <br /> Hanvey, Herbert, Culpepper,. <br /> Aoo~inst-- None. <br /> And on motions, the following other matters were referred to: <br /> <br /> Fiz~nce D~partment-- <br /> A de- <br />cree of the Court of Hustings that the lien of all City taxes up to aud including the year <br />~em~lnl~ngunpaid on the Estate of N~thew C. Forbes be relieved. <br /> A ~petition of the Civil & Police Justice for his salary to be increased to $2,000. per year. <br /> ABeti~ion of the Manager of the Olympic Theatre to have rep~led the license tax of $2~0. <br />per.y~, i~ an additional fee of over $~10 is ch~r~ed,$Qr entrance. <br /> A report of the City Collector theft Mrs. Lilley C. Hall requests to be refunded <br />paid in error for ~axes for the year 1916. <br /> A petition of the Commissioner of the Revenue that certain parties be refunded amounts <br />paid in erro~and certain other parties be relieved from payment of taxes. <br /> <br /> City Manager-- <br /> A report of the State Corporation Commission of assessed values of Tele- <br />graph, Telephone, Express, Steamboat, Steamship, and Sleeping Car Properties in the State of <br />Virginia for the Year <br /> <br />On motion, <br /> <br />adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
