Ap etition of the MilterDay Nursery for the payment of'nine months of a¢¢u~mutated rent for said nursery, ~as referred to the Finance Dep~r~ment. A communication was read from the High ConstaBle asking that a constr~ction be placed on Section 515 of the Oity Code which relates to portzon of fines imposed by the City Civil & Police Justice in cases of vioiation 6f the City Ordinances,in which the High Constable lodges said complaints, being paid to. him. 0nmotion~ the comr~unieation w~s referred to the Department of Law and City Attorney. Herbert, an aporopriation of $~,800. for the New HighSchool Building and an appropriation of tJ00. for th~ Emergency Hospital, were referred to the Finance Depart- meet. Mr. Herbertp~esented a reco~w~endation from the City M~nager that appropriations to the following ~mounts be allo~ed to pay bills on hand for which there is no aDpropriation: Gas Hearing, $102.88; Co~ts, $22.00;~Sew~rage Department, $~.00; Cemetery, $~2.10; Print~u~ Hd~siz~ Ca, ds, $18,50, St. Cans, $10.15; Police Department, $115.52; Jail, $!55.00. -~ On motion, the matter was ref¢rred to the Finance Department. Mr. Herbert presented also a recommendation from the City ~.~nager that an appropriation of ~5,100. he made for Street Improvement to continue the force during the balance of the year; and said communication was referred to the Finance. Department. ' Mr. Dears, Chairman of the DeDartment of Law, presented an ord%~nce regulating and speci- fying the quality of gas used in the City; and same ~as referred to the City Attorney to be p~t ~nto legal shape. A contract with the U. S. Government for certain imp~ovemetts~ extensions, ac., to the water plant, was read and ordered to lie on the table until the regular meeting of the body October 18th. ~ motion, adjourned.
