Wright, <br /> Also the City Manager. <br /> <br /> The minutes of the regular meet-lng April 1Bth, special meeting April 22~, special meeting <br />-April 26th, adjourned special meeting April 29th, and special meeting May 6th were read and were <br />approved. <br /> <br /> At this point, the privilege of.the floor was granted to the'Chairman of the Board of Su- <br />pervisors of Norfolk County, and DoctQrs Griffin, Foard, and Hope, who spoke i~ favor of a <br />joint Health Officer and Bacteriologist for the City of Portsmouth and Countyof Norfolk, and <br />it was stated that t~ Board of Supervisors of Norfolk Co~ty were in favor~ of same. <br /> ·hey asked t~hat the City take UP the work which the U. S. Land, ~d the proper Cit~ Officers were instruct- <br />ed to sign same. <br /> <br />Public Safety-- <br /> No report. <br /> <br /> Public Welfare-- <br /> Recommended tD~t the CityManager be instructed to drawplans and~ speci- <br />fications for a bridge on King street extended to Olive Branch Cemetery, and %~ scene bids <br />for the construction of same'. <br /> On motion, the recom~endation was adopted. <br /> <br /> Finance-- <br /> Referred April tSth <br /> <br /> A request of theCity Manager 'for an additional appropriation of $200o for stat~oneryfor- <br />his office for the remainder of the year. <br /> It is recommended that a special appropris, tion to said amount be allowed. <br /> <br /> (With Oity Attorney) An Order of C~art exonerating the Portsmouth Ice DetiV~ry COrporation <br />from payment of license tax and fees to amot~t of $236.28, assessed against it for peddling ice <br />from wagons. <br /> No action is necessary on this matter. <br /> <br /> Recommendation of the School Board that a bonus be g~anted to ~hlte ~nd coto~ed teachers of <br />the newl~ annexed'territory on the same basis as in the old City limits for April, May and June; <br />amount, $2',115.00. ' <br /> It is recomv~ended~that a speolal.appr°~riati°n of $2,1~S. be ~made for this purpose. <br /> An appropriation not to exceed$2,000. for the purchase_ of-hose for the City.
