<br /> ~ City Manager submitted a letter from Dr. Roper, the new Health Officer, making several
<br />recommendations to be embodied in the ordinance.
<br />
<br /> The privilege of the floor was granted to those present who might wish to speak as to the
<br />ordinance. ~Thereupon, Dr. Poulson spoke in favor of the ordinance, and ~s. Lindsay, from the
<br />Housewives League, spoke urging adoption of the ordinance.
<br />
<br />Then onmotzon,' the following amendments were o~fered to the ordinance and adopted:
<br />
<br /> To insert in section 1, "Third," sixth line, after the word "disease" the following clause:
<br />"and all employees in such establishments sD~ll be physically examined from time to time by
<br />the Health Officer or his assistants for contagious or infectious diseases."
<br />
<br />To substitute in Section 1, "Fifth," fourth line, the word "six" for "four."
<br />
<br /> To make the second sentence of ~
<br /> Sect_on 3 read as follows: "All money oolieo%ed un, er the
<br />provisions of this section shall be dSposited with the City Collector, taking his receipt for
<br />same, and deposited by the City Collector into the general funds of the City."
<br />
<br /> To make the last sentence of Section 5 read as follows: "The duplicate copy of the receipt,
<br />together with the fee dolleoted sD~ll be turned over to the City Collector, takin~ his receipt
<br />for same, and deposited by the City Collector into the general funds of the City."
<br />
<br /> To substitute in Section 6, line §, the word "wholesome" for "unwholesome;" and in Section
<br />6, line ?, substitute the word "fit" for "unfit."
<br />
<br /> To add the following paragraph to Section 8: "The meat inspector shall also make dairy
<br />inspections when ordered by the Bo~wd of Health to do so."
<br />
<br /> To insert the fo!Iowingafter section 8, to be section 9: "All meats whether slaughtered
<br />and packed or re~igerated under Bureau of Animal Industry supervision and regulations shall
<br />be' inspected by the Portsmouth ~eat Inspector to d~term~ne whether such meats are fit for human
<br />consu~tion upon arrival at Portsmouth.
