O30 <br /> <br />FebrUary 28, i 1995 <br /> <br /> Bids were received on J~nuary 19, 1995 for the first phase <br />which extends from Tow-ne Point Road to Swannanoa Drive. <br />Approximately half of this length will be widened to four <br />lanes. The bids are as shown on Attacb_ment No. 1. The low <br />bidder was Rountree Construction Company. <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works recommends award of 'the <br />construction contract to the low bidder, Rountree Construction <br />Company; approval of the City/State agreement; and an <br />appropriation in the amount of $2,907,539 to complete this <br />project. I concur with the Director of Public Works and with <br />your approval of this item, the balance in the CapitaI <br />Improvements Fund will be $9,042,776." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $2,907,539.00 FROM THE <br />CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR THE WIDENING AND RECONSTRUCTION <br />OF TWIN PINES ROAD FROM APPROXIMATELY TOWNE POINT ROAD TO <br />SWANNANOA DRIVE." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Hawks, to award <br />the construction contract for improvements to Twin Pines Road <br />to Rountree Construction Company, and was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None '~ <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Hawks, to <br />authorize the signing of an agreement with the Virginia <br />Department of Transportation for reimbursement of the cost of <br />the project, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />95-95 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an <br />ordinance to close an unimproved portion of Bart Street. <br /> <br /> "At the request of an adjoining property owner, an <br />application has been filed to close an unimproved portion of <br />Bart Street. The viewers you previously appointed have <br />recommended approval of the application, and the Planning <br />Commission concurs in this recommendation. The property owners <br />on each side of Bart Street have agreed to pay for the closed <br />portion of Bart Street. <br /> <br /> I, therefore, recommend the adoption of this ordinance <br />closing the designated portion of Bart Street as requested by <br />the applicants." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to <br />adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF BART STREET." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br />Abstained: Martin - conflict of interest <br /> <br /> <br />
