<br /> Whereupon,-the City Manager presented a lease from the Eake Drummond Canal and Water Co.
<br />as follows:

<br /> ~THIS AGREEMENT, Made this 29th d~y of April, 1921, between The L~ke Drummond Canal and
<br />Water-Oompany, a. corporation~ party of the first part, and the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />a municipal corporation, or its assigns, party of the second p~rt,

<br /> ~NITNES~ETH: That, f~r and in consideration of the sum of One ~$1~ OO) Dollar, cash in
<br />hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, and other good and valuable considera-
<br />tions, the said party of the_firet,pa~t doth hereby lease unto the said party of the second
<br />pa~t, .for a period of ninety nine (99) years, all of its.rights amd interests in and to the
<br />following described property, to-wit:-

<br /> "At the expiration of the aforesaid period of ninety-nine (~9) years, the said City of
<br /> Portsmout~ or ~s assigns, i's hereby given th, right ~o re a like period

<br /> this lease, at the expirati~on of each nlnety~nine (99~ yea~ period so long as it may sc desire.
