At aregular meeting of the City Council June l~th there were present: Messrs-- Vernon Brooks, R. B. Esleeck, J. C. ~mith, J. H. H~ll, Jr., R. A. Hutchins, Jr., J. Alden Oast, L. G. White, ?. Also the City M~nager. The minutes of the regular meeting May 2~th were read. On motion of Mm. Hmll, the minutes with. regard to a communication from the Woman's Democratic Organization were corrected to read as follows: "A communication was read from t~e Woman's Democratic Organization stating that a~ a regular meeting of the said Organization held at the home of Mrs. Woodson Ezell May 5th, it was decided to ask the Council for representation on the School Board amd that the. name of Mrs. Cora Stsmwood Darden was put in nomination and unanimously elected in place of Mr. H~rry Outhriell, resigned. Mr. Hall nominated Mrs, D~rden flor the position, seconded by.Mr. Esleeck. H~. Brooks moved to amend thmt the election of a successor to Mr. Outhriell be .laid on the table until the next regular meeting of the Council. Mr. Hall withdrew hie motion, and the motion by Mr. Brooks was adopted. ~hen the minutes were approved, as corrected. The minutes of the special meetings May 26tn mnd May 31st were read and were approved. Finance-- REPORTS OF COMMITTEES Referred May 2~th ~x A requee~ of the City Hmn~ger that he be authorized to ~oin the Hampton Roads Maritime change, no addltionml' appropriation being neCessary for t~is as same can be paid from ap- propriation in the Budget for ~onventions. It is recommended that the Manager be authorized to Join said Exchange, out of appro- priation in the Budget for Conventions. RecommendAtion of the City Manager that the appropriation to the Kings Dmug~htere Hospitml the City be increased to $250.00 per month, as requested by t~e Directors of the Hospital, Progress as to same. ~Hll of A. An Ordinance Prescribing the Number of Jitneys to Operate on Each Jitney Route, and Fix- ing a Schedule Therefor.
