Mr, White withcLvew his motion, and then offered the following: that an appropriation <br /> of $13,000. be mmde to pave Emmett street, between Green and Chestnut. <br /> The motion was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes-- Brooks, Esleeck, Smith, Hall, Oast, White, 6. <br />~ays~- Hutchins, <br /> <br /> Mr, White presented the following ordinance, which was placed on its first reading: <br /> <br /> An Ordinance to Require a Permit for the Carrying of Concealed Weapons, ~uch as Pistols, <br /> Bowie Knives, Razors, Slung Shots, &c., and Fixing Penalty for the Violation thereof. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Brooks, the following matters~ were referred to the City Manager: <br /> <br /> (a) Advisability of constr~cting a new Incinerator to take Care of conditions for next <br /> year. <br /> (h) Advisability of procuring property .for establishing dumps in ve~wious parts of the <br /> City to take care of trash, advantage shorter hauls and increase in value of property. <br /> <br /> (c) Advisability of repairing and maintaining all streets from paved streets ~o all fire <br /> hydrants, so that in all weather the fire apparatus will be available to fight all fires <br /> within the Oity; also to pav~ place 10x35 feet at each hydrant, not already paved, with paving <br /> block. <br /> <br /> (d) Investigating status of P~vlng Block and cancellation of any contract that may use <br /> any more of these~locks.~ <br /> <br /> (e) Advisability of r~emoving present police headquarters to a more central location, <br /> thereby ~divorcing the police ~tation from the Jail. <br /> <br /> (f) Advisability o~releasing non~flnance handling Officers from bonds. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Hall, the advisability of testing all gasoline sold in thc'City of <br />Portsmouth, and requiring that gasoline shall stand a ~est of 65 when tested with a Hydrometer, <br /> graduated with the BaUme Scale, was referred to the'City ~anager and City Attorney. <br /> <br /> A. communication was read from the Captain of the Port complaining against action of <br /> Harbor Master P. W. Baker, and on motion, same was referred to the Boa~rd of Harbor Commission- <br /> ers, <br /> <br />on motion, adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
