<br /> Recommendation of the'Nanager that t~e City purchase $25,000. worth of County bonds for
<br />its Sinking Fund at 98, to finance the road f~om the Western end of High street to the City
<br />Park, bridg~ is recommended that the City purchase for its Sinking Fund $25,000. w~th of
<br />Norfol$ County 5~ bonds at~98~ this money to be used from the purchase of these bonds by
<br />Norfot~ County to.pave from Rodman avenue ~nd High street, along Rodmsm avenue to King street,
<br />and along King street to the City bridge.
<br />
<br /> Communication fromthe Manager stating that th~ Eighth Ward Civic League has petitioned
<br />for sidewalks on certain streets ~n the Eighth Ward, the estimated cost being $8,000.00, and
<br />he is of the opinion that there will be a sufficien~ balance in the income of the Eighth Ward
<br />to cover this. As he h&s already expressed his opinion that all sidewalks should in the
<br />future be paid for by abutting owners, he forwards this request without recommendation.
<br /> It is recommended that an~&ppropriation of $6,000.00 be allowed, out of Eighth Ward
<br />funds, for this purpose.
<br />
<br /> A bill of ~The J. F. ~; Dorman Co. to amount of $15.~0, fo~ tags f-~ished the Commission-
<br />er of the Revenue, ~
<br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation of $15.~0 be allowed to pay this billj
<br />
<br /> Referred August 9th

<br /> Recommendation of the Manager that C. D. Kenny Co. be allowed $16.25 to pay for damages
<br />done to truck 0f said Company by a City trash cart, out of appropriation to St. Cleaning.
<br /> It is recommended that this bill be paid, out of appropriation for St. Cleaning.

<br />the Assis~n~t City Engineer to the Manager stating that Mr. Preston had reqmested the Assistant
<br />City Engineer to urge the City Manager to have present at the hearing regarding widening of
<br />draw on the West Norfolk Bridge, as ma~y representative citizens of Portsmouth~ as ~ossible.

<br />which was very importsmt mo this company. This information w~s requested by your Chief of
<br />Police, Mr. Talbott, which was promptly furnished and in m very courteous manner by Messrs.
<br />Talbott, Hayden, and Weekly. The co-operative spirit of these Gentlemen appealed to me and
<br />it is certainly a'credlt to our City to have such men in its employ.
