<br /> 9th. Notice of the transfer of Mr. S. V. Sawyer, now Keeper of Cedar Grove Cemetery, to
<br />the O$ive Branch Cemetery; appointed of Mr. L. C. Elliott, Inspector ~ the Health Department,
<br />as Keeper of Cedar Grove Cemetery; appointment of Mr. George White a~ an Inspector in the
<br />Health Department, vice Mr. Elliott; all transfers and appointments ~o be effective October
<br />let, 1921.

<br /> 10th. Recommendmtion of the Manager that a special appropriation of $1100.00 be allowed
<br />for shade trees for the 0live Br~nch Cemetery.
<br /> On motion, the recommen~tion was referred ~o the Finance Committee.
<br /> llth. Communication stating that he has been informed by ~he Commanding Officer of the
<br />Naval Hospital that a. release by the Federal Government, duly signed, has been received by
<br />him, for the lot owned by the U. S. in the Olive Branch Cemetery; and that he is prepared to
<br />turn this release over to the City as soon as pa.vment of $1000.00 for the lot is made.
<br /> On motion, the communication was referred to the Finance. Committee.
<br /> 12th. Notice that Officer T. C. Qua~kenoush has been dismissed from the Police force,
<br /> effective Sept. 26th.

<br /> 13th. Recommendation that an additional appropriation of $1100. be allowed for water and
<br /> fuel a~ the Jail co~ering bills already made and anticipated expenditures for the res~ of t.he
<br /> Year; and that $200. be allowed fur mhe City Collector's Office, covering stamps, envelopes,
<br /> and essential books.
<br /> On motion, the recommendation was referred to the Einaace Committee.

<br /> necessit~ of req~i~ing bonds from Officials of the City Who have nc financial responsibility,
<br /> reported that~, a~ter ~ue cons{deration, it is his opinio~ that it is best to continue to
<br /> fry, and reco=mending that the City m~ke
<br /> quire bonds from a~ll responsible officials of the C ·
<br /> each year the necessary ~ppropriation to pay premiums on bonds of all City Officials, involv-
<br /> ing an expense of about $400. per year.
<br /> On motion, the reoommend~tlon of the Manager was referred to the Finance Committee.
<br /> 15th. Commu~zication statin~ha~ on this dmte The Rotary Club of Portsmouth passed a
<br /> solution ~equesting the City Council to pass a resolution calling upon the President of the
<br /> Shipping Board to take under consideration the many advmut~ges of mssigning thelrepairs of
<br /> the Steamship Levimthan to the Na~y Yard; the Manager recommended that such a resolution be
<br /> adopted-by Council.
<br /> On motion~ ~eN~c~$~tlon of the Manager was concurred in, and the City Manager
<br /> was instructed to draw a resolution to this effect for the City.
