June 25,2002 <br /> <br />· This program provides free, nutritious meals during the summer to youth who are <br />economically disadvantaged, while providing wholesome recreational, educational and <br />cultural programs. <br /> <br />· This year's program will provide 3,240 breakfasts and 1,290 lunches per day to <br />youth at 19 locations in the City. <br /> <br />· The Department has provided free and nutritious meals for over 20 years to youth <br />who are economically disadvantaged. Last year, the summer program served 1,095 <br />breakfasts and lunches to children at 12 locations. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· This is a reimbursable grant and there is no local match required. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $195,848 IN THE GRANTS FUND FOR THE <br />UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE (USDA) SUMMER FOOD <br />PROGRAM." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />02 - 192 - Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $139,646 in the Grants Funds for <br />Fire Protection Services. <br /> <br />These funds will be used for Firefighter Safety by updating protective clothing, <br />purchasing fire fighting equipment and the training of firefighters.
