The Electoral Board requests the following precinct changes: Precinct #16 - Cradock Community Center, 45 Afton Parkway to Cradock Middle School, 21 Alden Avenue; and Precinct #25 - Port Norfolk Elementary School, 3101 Detroit Street to John Tyler Elementary School, 3649 Hartford Street. Recommendation: · Adoption of an ordinance to amend Chapter 10 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth related to polling changes. The Electoral Board requests the following precinct changes: Precinct Number 16 - Cradock Community Center, 45 Afton Parkway to Cradock Middle School, 21 Alden Avenue; Precinct Number 25 Port Norfolk Elementary School, 3101 Detroit Street to John Tyler Elementary School, 3649 Hartford Street. Purpose and Need: · Precinct 16, Cradock Community Center, is now a Crime Prevention Office and is no longer available. There are 1775 registered voters in the precinct. The proposed precinct, Cradock Middle School, has on-street parking, 6 handicapped parking spaces, 50 parking spaces in the school parking lot and has access to public transportation. · Precinct 25, Port Norfolk Elementary School, is closing as of June 30, 2002 and will no longer be available. There are 1679 registered voters in the precinct. The proposed precinct, John Tyler Elementary School, has on-street parking, 10 handicapped parking spaces, 169 parking spaces in the school parking lot and has access to public transportation. Financial Impact: · The financial impact will be minimal, such as notifying voters of the new precinct change. Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 10 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTIONS 10-100 AND 10-108 THEREOF PERTAINING TO THE VOTING PLACES FOR PRECINCTS NO. 16 AND 25."
