June 16, 1922 <br /> <br /> "WHEREAS, Reports hmve been received ~0 the effect that it is the intention of the Naval <br />Affairs Committee ~o recommend a further reduction in the Naval ApproprZatlon Bill, and <br /> <br /> "WHEREAS, Such a reduction will, in the opinion of the City Council of the City of Ports- <br /> mouth, have a deplorable effect on conditions both in this City ~nd throughout the country <br /> generally, especially in the light of the industrial depression which still exists in many <br />-sections of the country, and <br /> <br /> "WHEREAS, Such ~otion will tend to destroy the morale of the employees now employed in <br />the Nmvy Y~rds, <br /> <br /> "THEREFORE BE IT RESOLED, That the City Council of the-City of Portsmouth, in special <br />session assembled, deplores the proposed reduction in the ~ppropriation as being ~nwarran~ed <br />~nd inadvismble a~ this time, m~d <br /> <br /> "BE IT FURTP~ RESOLVED, That the City Council urge upon Senators Claude A. Swanson and <br />Carter G~ase, oF Virginia, ~nd Representative J. T.
