<br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Industrial Development Authority
<br />is engaged in an effort to market the old Churchland High
<br />School site to a buyer for its potential development; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, it is deemed~appropriate that the site be
<br />conveyed to the Portsmouth~Industrial Development Authority
<br />quickly and efficiently upon an agreement for its development
<br />and sale.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is,
<br />authorized to convey unto the Portsmouth Industrial Development
<br />Authority of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, all that certain
<br />piece or parcel of land lying in the City of Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia, being 33.86 acres as shown on that certain survey
<br />entitled "Boundary Survey of Churchland High School,
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia", dated March 31, 1987, and revised
<br />January 29, 1992, prepared by Miller-Stephenson & Associates,
<br />P.C., which said plat:was duly recorded in the Clerk's Office
<br />of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, in
<br />Map Book 15, at page 84, by deed of~special warranty, subject
<br />to such conditions, restrictions and easements as appear of
<br />record."

<br />95-209 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of
<br />an ordinance to appropriate $1,138,000 from the Capital
<br />Improvements Fund for rehabilitation of a portion of the
<br />Churchland Bridge, and a motion to award the contracts to The
<br />Kennedy Company of Virginia, J. Hemminger Construction Company,
<br />and Cleco Corporation.

<br /> a. Ordinance to appropriate $1,138,000 from the Capital
<br />Improvements Fund for repairs to the Churchland Bridge, which
<br />includes joint replacement, epoxy deck overlay, sandblasting
<br />and painting.
<br />
<br /> b. Motion to award the contracts to The Kennedy Company
<br />of Virginia, J. Hemminger Construction Company and the Cleco
<br />Corporation.
<br />
<br /> "Funds are included in the 1994-99 Capital Improvement
<br />Plan and in prior year authorizations for painting and repairs
<br />to the Churchland Bridge. Bids were received on April 11, 1995
<br />for expansion joint replacement on the two eastbound lanes.
<br />Bids were also received on April 13, 1995 for applying an epoxy
<br />overlay to-the deck of the two eastbound lanes and for cleaning
<br />and painting the steel structure of the two westbound lanes.
