ti8 <br /> <br />Ma¥8~ 1995 <br /> <br /> At the Public Hearing Meeting of the City Council held on <br />Monday, May 8, 1995, there were present= <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webh, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, <br />Bernard D. Griffin, James C. Hawks, James T. Martin, Cameron C. <br />Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, <br />George M. Willson, Acting City Attorney. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Clemons opened the meeting with prayer which <br />was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br /> The Mayor called the meeting to order and welcomed all in <br />attendance. <br /> <br />95-222 - Public hearing on code amendments, rezonings, use <br />permits~ and the Comprehensive Plan: <br /> <br />(a) CA-94-08 <br /> <br />CITY CODE AMENDMENT - A proposal to amend Zoning <br />Ordinance Article IV Historical Districts by <br />adding "restaurants" to Historic Limited Office <br />districts with use permits. <br /> <br />1. Ralph Jackson, 451 Court Street, spoke in opposition to <br />CA-95-0!and Z-95-05. <br /> <br />2. Leslie French, iii, 208 Glasgow Street, spoke in support of <br />CA-95-01and Z-95-05. <br /> <br />3. Alan Gollihue, 216 North Street, spoke in support of <br />CA-95-01 and Z-95-05. <br /> <br />4. Katherine Williams-Preddy, 361 Court Street, spoke in <br />support of CA-95-01 and Z-95-05. <br /> <br />5. Stuart Nelson, 3328 Courtney Road, spoke in opposition to <br />Z-95-05. <br /> <br />6. Susan Taylor Hansen, 300 North Street, spoke in support of <br />CA-95-01. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and secOnded by Mr. Hawks, to defer <br />consideration of CA-94-08. <br /> <br /> Substitute motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. <br />Robinett, to concur with the recommendation of the Planning <br />Commission that CA-94-08 be denied, and was defeated by a vote <br />of 3-4 (Griffin, Hawks, Pitts, Webb) <br /> <br /> The original motion to defer consideration until the <br />Public Hearing meeting on June 12, 1995, was adopted by a vote <br />of 5-2 (Clemons, Robinett). <br /> <br />(b) CA-95-01 <br /> <br />CITY CODE AMENDMENT - A proposal to amend Zoning <br />Ordinance Article IV Historical Districts <br />creating a Historic Limited Business i and <br />Historic Limited Business 2 zoning districts. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Hawks, to defer <br />consideration of CA-95-01 to the Public Hearing meeting on June <br />12, 1995~ and was adopted by a vote of 6-1 (Clemons). <br /> <br /> <br />
