<br /> A communication was read from James A. Mulvey, suggesting that 0ouncil refer to theCity
<br /> ~nmger and Finance Committee for report at the next meeting of Council, the appointment of
<br /> m Direozor of Budget, with power to cut to the bone expenses in the City Depmrtments~ consis-
<br /> tent with good service, and to consolidate and organize the v~rious City Departments to secure

<br /> On motion, the communication was referred to the City Manager and Fins~oe Committee.

<br /> A petition was remd from attorneys for the Board of Hmrbor Commissioners requesting thmt
<br /> Council mppropriate the necessary funds to defray proportionmte share of expenses of the Board,

<br />toriumbe erected in the Prent£s Place section at a cost, with equipment, of $140,000.00.

<br /> On motion of Mr. White, the privilege of the floor was granted to Mr. C. N. Markham,
<br />Chairman of the Finance Committee of the$chool Bomrd and Mr. H. A. Hunt, Superintendent of
<br />~chools, who spoke in favor of the request.

<br /> Mr. Stewart moved that $12,500. be transferred from the New Sewermge Fund to the St. Improv~-
<br />merit Fund to pave Webster ~venue, from Leckie ~o 200 feet north of Bay street, and ~hat the N~
