<br /> The following communications were read from the City Manager:

<br />Portsmouth Improvement Co., which owns the Commercial Building, Hotel ~onroe and Orpheum
<br />~heatre, that the Council pass a resolution giving consent to the encumbrance of said property
<br />in order that the Company may borrow_ $300,000. to retire its present bonded indebtedness
<br />s~ud make needed improvements to the property·" the Manager reported that ths proposed resolution
<br />has been carefully examined by the City Attorney and myself, and we believe that the City is
<br />fully protected and recommen~ the passage of the resolution.
