<br /> Petitions were read from certain citizens and business men of Portsmouth protesting
<br />against a change~of location for the market and desiring to have the old market renovated and
<br />mmde suitable and sanitary.
<br /> On motion, the petitions were referred to the Committee on Markets.
<br />
<br /> The President announced the appointment of C. R. Welto~ Norman Cassell, and R. C. Barclay
<br />as members of the Zoning Board, and the zoning ordinance was referred to the said Board.
<br />
<br />On motion, adjourned.

<br />for the amount of $367,000.00 for school buildings.

<br /> The Committee on Finance of the School Board was directed by the School
<br />Board at its meeting on Friday night October 6, to request of your honorable body, an appro-
<br />priation of $367,000.00 for the erection of the following school buildings:
<br />
<br /> 1. That a sixteen room building (sixteen class rooms ~nd two special rooms) and auditori-
<br />um be erected in the Glasgow Street section at a cost, with equipment, of $1~O,000.00.
<br />
<br /> ~11 That a sixteen room building (sixteen class rooms and two special rooms) and audito-
<br />rium be erected in the Prentis Place section at a cost, with equipment, of $140,000.00.
<br />
<br /> 111. That a twelve room b~ilding (ten class rooms and two special rooms) be erected in
<br />the No~ut Hermon section at m cost including equipment and site not to exceed $87,000.00.

<br /> Then Er. Esleeok moved that the privilege of the floor be granted to any one present

<br />Shepherd, C. L. Cotton, Chas. F. P~rper, E. B. ~est, Mrs. T, D. Home, spoke urging the
<br />approprimtion.

<br /> Mr. Esleeok moved thmt the oon~unication be referred to the Finance Committee of the
<br />Gouncil, ~r. B~ooks moved to ~mend~ that s~me be referred jointly to the Finance Committee
<br />of the Council and the Finance Committee of the School Board.
<br /> The amendment was adopted, and by the following vote:
